T-bone crash at Sarcoxie, claims life of local young man

SARCOXIE, Mo. — About 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2022 reports of a two vehicle crash at MO-37 and Blackberry Road alerted Jasper Count E-911.

Sarcoxie Fire Dept, Sarcoxie Police and Mercy Ambulance responded. MoDOT Emergency Response and Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified.

On scene we learn from Sarcoxie Police Chief Brandy Corum they requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol to process the crash scene.

Cpl Jeff Prewitt of Troop D tells us their MCIU (Major Crash Investigation Unit) will investigate what occurred.

Driving a 2013 Fiat, Emmanuel Lovell, 20, of Sarcoxie, he was traveling north on CR60. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Jasper County Coroner Randy Nace.

A passenger in the Fiat,  Eden Sims, 19, of Sarcoxie, was transported to Mercy Joplin suffering moderate injuries.

Operating a 2002 Ford F250, Tracy Lowe, 52, of Mt. Vernon, Mo. was traveling east on BlackBerry Road. She was not injured in the crash.

Occurred as the [Fiat] pulled into the path of [Ford F250].

M&M Wrecker removed both crashed vehicles. The area was cleared to all traffic about 6:30 p.m.

Granby man killed in t-bone crash with tractor trailer on US-60

NEOSHO, Mo. — Just before 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2022, reports of a crash at HH and US-60 alerted Newton County Central Communications.

Neosho Fire Station 2, Newton County Ambulance, Newton County Deputies responded. The Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified.

On scene we learn an eastbound tractor trailer t-boned a pickup truck entering the intersection from northbound HH.

The driver of the 2003 Dodge 1500, Everett Harrison, 77, of Granby, died at the scene.

A female passenger, Lisa Hanna, 44, of Granby, suffered serious injuries. She was rushed Priority One to a Joplin hospital by Newton County Ambulance.

Occurred as [Dodge Pickup] pulled into the path of [Peterbilt]. Subject was pronounced on scene at 7:12 a.m. by the Newton County Deputy Coroner Jerry Deems. Next of Kin notified.”- Cpl G.H. Hendrix of Troop D

The driver of the 2018 Peterbilt, Tyler Dabbs, 33, of Columbus, Kan. was not injured.

Missouri State Highway Patrol summoned the Major Crash Investigation Unit (MCIU) to map the crash for investigation.

Comer’s Wrecker were summoned to remove the tractor trailer. Ron’s Towing removed the pickup truck.

The intersection was cleared to release all lanes and all traffic about 10:15 a.m.

Lamar teens involved in fatal crash, Missouri State Highway Patrol investigate

BARTON COUNTY, Mo. — Just before 2 a.m. Sunday morning reports of a crash along State Route V near NE 40th alerted Barton County E-911.

A Barton County Deputy arrived first, locating the crash about 10 miles northwest of Lamar. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified.

On scene we learn it was a single vehicle crash with three occupants, the driver, Benjamin Harrington, 18, of Lamar was killed.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Major Crash Investigation Unit (MCIU), incl. Cpl K.R. Waters, was summoned to assist the investigation.

The two passengers were teens from Lamar. Female, 16, suffered serious injuries. She was transported AIR EVAC to Mercy Springfield.

Male, 16, suffered minor injuries and was picked up by family. He was the only occupant wearing a seat belt.

Crash occurred as [Chevy Impala] ran off the left side of the roadway, struck a bluff and overturned.” — Tpr A.G. Torbeck of Troop D

Next of kin are notified. Barton County Coroner Sarah Rutledge pronounced the deceased at time of crash. The body was transported to Daniels Funeral Home of Lamar.

Parks Towing removed the crashed vehicle and debris. The roadway was reopened to traffic about 6 a.m.

Three killed as pickup crashes into Peterbilt near Nevada, Mo.

VERNON COUNTY, Mo. — Just before 12:15 a.m. early Monday morning Missouri State Highway Patrol report three have died as a result of a two vehicle crash at the intersection of MO-43 and US-54.

Troopers on scene summoned the MCIU No.3 (Major Crash Investigation Unit) to assist investigation.

PICKUP WAS NORTHBOUND ON MO-43 AND PETERBILT WESTBOUND, GOOGLE MAPS 

Driving a 2013 Ford F-150 was Tylar Green, 19, of Nevada, Mo., he failed to stop at stop sign and struck a Peterbilt. He died in the early morning hours of Monday at Cox South.

Three passengers in the pickup, one survived:

  • Juvenile, 17, of Bronough, Mo. died at the scene
  • Derek Mahurin, 19, of Nevada, was transported to Freeman West at Joplin, Mo., suffering serious injuries
  • Allison Bittiker, 24, of Nevada, died at the scene

The driver of the 2014 Peterbilt, Robert King, 48, of Nevada, was not injured.

Man arrested on Felony DWI, killing of another person, related to Anderson, Mo. fatal head-on crash

McDONALD COUNTY, Mo. — Saturday August 20, 2022 the Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated a fatal crash on MO-59 within the Anderson city limits. Troopers determined the surviving driver Vincent Castro, 25, was intoxicated. He was arrested but released for medical treatment.

Now after recovery at an area hospital Castro has been arrested.

McDonald County Prosecuting Attorney Maleia Cheney filed charges of:

  • DWI Resulting in the Death of Another
  • C&I Driving
  • No valid DL
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance

He is currently being held at the McDonald County Jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond.

Charges are related to a fatal traffic crash that killed David Cunningham, 65, of Anderson. Cunningham, a lifelong area resident, was driving to work that Saturday morning.

Three killed in wrong-way driver crash, Neosho, Mo. teen flown trauma to Joplin

PINEVILLE, Mo. — Just after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night reports of a head-on collision on US-71 just north of Brush Creek Road in the city limits of Pineville alerted McDonald County E911.

Pineville Fire Dept, Pineville Marshals, McDonald County Sheriff’s Deputies and Freeman Ambulance responded. Missouri State Highway Patrol and MoDOT were notified. White Rock Fire responded to assist.

On the scene Trooper Randy Morris tells us one vehicle, 2014 Nissan Versa, with three persons was traveling the wrong way, south in the northbound lanes, on divided US-71. This is about 2 miles south of the I-49/US-71 junction. All three in that vehicle died at the scene. 

Those killed include the driver, Kyler Johnson, 29, of Washburn, Mo. Passengers Joseph Lynch, 58, of Powell, Mo. and a 15-year-old juvenile male of Washburn.

The northbound victim vehicle, 2011 Toyota Prius, driven by a 17-year-old Neosho, Mo. female.  She was flown trauma to a Joplin hospital. 

The Major Crash Investigation Unit (MCIU) of Troop D were summoned to the scene to map crash for investigation.

US-71 was closed northbound at MO-90 until about 2 a.m.

Fatal traffic crash. Next of kin notified. [Nissan] travelled southbound in the northbound lane and struck [Toyota]. All three occupants were pronounced deceased at 9:35 p.m. by Deputy McDonald County Coroner Jonathan Fletcher.” – Tpr Randy Morris of MSHP Troop D, McDonald/Newton County

Pineville Fire expressed thanks in a release of information to agencies assisting, “It’s great to know in a time of need we have all these great teams that will come together to get the job done. This was a fatality accident and our prayers are with the family and friends of the deceased.

3 teens killed in crash near Stockton, Mo., MCIU investigate tragedy

CEDAR COUNTY, Mo. — The Missouri State Highway Patrol release preliminary information regarding a crash where three teens died east of Jerico Springs, Mo. on Thursday, August 4.

The single vehicle crash involved a 2006 Toyota Scion with five male teens, traveling westbound on State Hwy B.

The driver, Clay Palmer, 19, of Cleveland, Mo. died at the scene.

Two passengers were also killed including, Ryan Chick, 18, of Cabool, Mo. and Logan Meerkatz, 18, of Cleveland, Mo.

Two passengers survived including, Bradley Kidwell, 18, of Cabool, he suffered serious injuries. And Taylor Ranney, 18, of Mountain Grove, Mo. suffered moderate injuries.

[Toyota] topped a hill, became airborne, travelled off the right side of the roadway and overturned. All three deceased were ejected and all three pronounced at the scene shortly after impact.” — Tpr M. Obert of Troop D

The crashed vehicle was removed by Mike’s Wrecker of Stockton, Mo.

The crash is being investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Investigation Unit.

MCIU (MAJOR CRASH INVESTIGATION UNIT)

The Troop D MCIU was summoned to process the crash. Each MCIU officer is, “trained in the human, mechanical and environmental factors of traffic crash investigation. They are considered court experts in the field of traffic crash investigation.”

There are currently four teams located across the state. Each one utilizes Robotic Total Station technology, allowing for the accurate and fair depiction of crash scenes diagrammed to scale.

Newton Co. man killed in t-bone crash east of Neosho, Mo.

NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. – Just after 6 p.m. Wednesday evening reports of a t-bone crash at State Hwy H and Norway Road alerted Newton County Central Dispatch.

Newton County Sheriff’s Deputies, Granby Fire Dept, Newton County Ambulance responded. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified.

On the scene we learn the crash proved fatal to one driver, George Eads, 90, of Granby, Mo. He was pronounced on scene. Next of kin have now been notified on Thursday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol MCIU (Major Crash Investigation Unit) were summoned to investigate the crash, which is protocol, when two or more vehicles are involved in a crash resulting in death.

The two-vehicle t-bone crash involved Eads, driving a 2006 Nissan Sentra, traveling eastbound on Norway Road.

Jeffrey Parman, 25, of Rocky Comfort, Mo. was driving a 2014 Mustang, traveling southbound on State Hwy H.  He suffered moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Motorcycle collides with woman in roadway, MCIU investigate fatal crash

NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. — Tuesday morning, July 26, shortly before 4:15 a.m. reports of a motorcycle crash near Racine Apostolic Church alerted Newton County Central Dispatch.

Seneca Rural Fire District, Newton County Sheriff’s Deputies and Newton County Ambulance responded. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified.

The crash involved a motorcycle and pedestrian near State Hwy K and Crow Road, one mile west of Racine. The pedestrian died on the scene.

The motorcycle, 2001 Honda CMX250, was operated by Nicholas Livermore, 40, of Racine, Mo. He suffered serious injuries and was transported to Freeman Hospital.

The pedestrian is identified as Johanna DeRose, 32, also of Racine, she was pronounced deceased at time of impact by Newton County Coroner Dale Owen. Next of kin have been notified.

“[Honda CMX250] struck [DeRose] in the roadway and overturned ejecting [Livermore]. [DeRose] was pronounced on scene at 4:10 a.m.” — CPL G.H. Hendrix of Troop D

The crash scene was closed to all traffic until about 7:30 a.m.  The crash is being investigated by the Major Incident Crash Unit (MCIU) Team #3.

Doug’s Towing removed the crashed motorcycle.

The deceased was transported to the Newton County Coroner’s office.
