Pickup goes off-road, flips upside down into trees near Seneca, Mo.

NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. — Just after 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning reports of a single vehicle crash along State Hwy K near Seneca alerted Newton County Central Dispatch.

Seneca Rural Fire, Newton County Deputies and Newton County Ambulance responded emergency. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified.

On the scene we learn from MSgt C.S. Mason the driver was not injured.

The Chevy Silverado was traveling west on State Hwy K, left the roadway to the right, jumped a driveway/culvert near Bluebird at 14516 State Hwy K. The pickup became airborne, possibly 12-feet in the air.

The pickup landed upside down between a metal farm fence and a decorative wooden fence.

Doug’s Wrecker was summoned to remove the pickup. Seneca Rural Firefighters used chainsaws to remove small sapling trees where the truck landed. The metal fence had to be disassembled somewhat before the truck could be rolled north into the yard of a residence.

MSgt Mason says the 24-year-old male driver was wearing his seat belt which most-likely saved him from serious injuries, because today he walked away ‘with just a bump on his head’.

We anticipate the preliminary crash report to be released later Tuesday. We will update our article here with those additional details.
