Fire devastates Whitehead Farm Supply in La Russell

LA RUSSELL, Mo. – A large fire left extensive damage at Whitehead Farm Supply in La Russell, Missouri Friday morning.

Firefighters received the call around 4:00 a.m. Avilla, Jasper, Carthage and Golden City Fire Departments responded to the scene. Crews had it under control before 6:00 a.m.

The fire leveled a building, however officials say no one was hurt. There’s no word yet on what caused the fire.

Two arrested for Joplin Kum & Go armed robbery

JOPLIN, Mo. – Authorities have arrested two people following an armed robbery at a Joplin convenience store.

It happened Thursday night at the Kum & Go on South Main. Authorities say a man went into the store, brandished a knife and demanded money. The clerk got away safely, and the man left in a car with a woman.

Authorities say the suspect is Robert Castro. He was arrested later after a Joplin police officer tracked the car down. He was arrested in connection with the robbery and outstanding warrants.

The alleged driver, Madison Shores was also arrested. She’s facing charges on possession of a controlled substance, DWI and possession of marijuana.

Bomb squad clears the scene at Lamar Casey’s

 

LAMAR, Mo. – Lamar police clear the scene after a reported bomb in a vehicle at Casey’s General Store.

Friday morning, the Police Department says a man went into Casey’s General Store and said he had a bomb in his car. Authorities saw wiring running from the hood of the car to the interior of the car. Police Chief Joe Moore says the man claimed that someone put the bomb in his car. They called in the Springfield bomb unit, which used a robot to inspect the car.

Police shut down 12th Street from Gulf Street to Lexington Street and asked residents to avoid the area.

The bomb squad found no bomb and have cleared the scene. Police are opening the area back up.

They detained the man. Police will speak with attorneys about any possible charges.

Rhea Lana’s begins summer sales event in Pittsburg

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Shoppers in Pittsburg were treated to a unique shopping experience where they could help others in the community.

Rhea Lana’s opened in the Old Goody’s Building for its spring and summer sales event. It’s a consignment store with families re-selling things like toys, furniture, baby equipment and much more to help cover their own personal expenses and provide good items at a low price to those in need.

I think it’s great because it gives families a Chance to come in sell their items, make a paycheck and also shop retail,” said Jennifer Page of Rhea lana. “Because we’ve found the retail selection is low right now especially in children’s items, so this just gives people a chance to shop in a fun environment bring their kids in and shop too.”

The sale is happening now through March 18.

Police searching for man who robbed Parsons Dollar General

PARSONS, Kan. – Parsons Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a man who robbed a Dollar General Store Monday morning.

Police say the suspect robbed the Dollar General at 2612 Main St around 9:09 a.m. at gunpoint. He fled the scene in an unknown direction of travel.

The suspect is reported as a white male wearing blue pants, tan coat and armed with black handgun.
