Cloudy and warm today; Snow begins late tonight

Friday will still be warm, just cloudy ahead of tomorrow’s snow system. This system will begin as rain near midnight tonight, and it will quickly transition to snow before sunrise Saturday morning. Temperatures will be at or below freezing through much of Saturday, so snow will persist through the afternoon, finally coming to an end for everyone by the early evening. 1-3″ of snow are possible once all is said and done, and higher totals should remain to our east. Winds will also gust up to 35 MPH through Saturday, allowing for wind chills to be in the lower 20s. Watch for any untreated roadways by Sunday morning, as they will likely freeze with temperatures dropping into the 10s. We’ll warm back into the 50s by Tuesday before a slight rain chance to our east Wednesday could cool us down below average by the end of next week.

Sunny and warm today; Cooler with snow accumulations on Saturday

Thursday will be the last day to enjoy sunny & warm conditions before cold & snowy weather return to the Four States on Saturday. Temperatures will still be warm through Friday, and we’ll be dry even with the cloud cover. Rain will begin late Friday night and transition quickly to snow by Saturday morning. Snow will likely persist through much of the day on Saturday, before temperatures warm above freezing by the afternoon. This means we could see another transition to a wintry mix/rain Saturday afternoon before drying out early Saturday night. Accumulation totals will be between 1-3″ across the Four States, and this will be a wet snow–great for packing snowballs! Enjoy the snow while it’s here, because it will likely melt by the start of next week as temperatures warm above average yet again.

Warm through Friday; Accumulating snow probable on Saturday

The rest of the work week will continue to see temperatures in the 50s, but clouds will increase on Friday–ahead of a system that will cool us into this weekend. Temperatures will drop below freezing Friday night into most of Saturday. This system will begin as rain near midnight or so into Saturday morning, and transition to snow through early Saturday afternoon. Right now, an estimate on accumulations is 1-3″, but this system could continue to change by the weekend. We’re still monitoring the location and timing of this snow, so stay updated through the week! Temperatures should warm back above average into next week.

Warm and breezy today; Cooler by the weekend

Temperatures today will warm into the middle to upper 50s, thanks to abundant sunshine and southwesterly wind gusts up to 30 MPH. Low temperatures overnight will be above freezing until we enter this weekend. We’ll be warm and sunny until Friday, when clouds increase ahead of a cold front. Rain is possible Friday night, and once temperatures drop below freezing, this could transition into a rain/snow mix early Saturday morning. Impacts and accumulations look minimal at this time, but we’ll keep you updated! Temperatures will fall into the 40s through the holiday weekend.

Warm and calm week ahead

After a cooler Sunday, Monday will kick off a warming trend across the Four States that will lead us through the work week. Winds will shift out of the south overnight, gusting up to 25 MPH tomorrow, allowing temperatures to warm into the upper 50s through Wednesday. We’ll be near 60 on Thursday before a cold front approaches us on Friday, bringing a slight chance for rain into Friday night. Most of the precipitation looks to stay to our north, but this cold front will certainly cool us into the 40s this weekend. We’ll keep you updated on the timing and location of rain on Friday!

Light rain tonight, mild by midweek

Light rain showers will be possible across the Four States tonight, but amounts are expected to remain on the light side, with a tenth of an inch at most anticipated.

We’ll cool down for Sunday, with highs in the lower-40s, but expect decreasing clouds throughout the day. It will be blustery both tonight and Sunday, with winds shifting from the south to the north, gusting up to 30 mph at times.

Much of the upcoming work week looks quite pleasant, with a good deal of sunshine expected and highs warming from 50 Monday to the mid-50s Tuesday and Wednesday, before we reach 60 degrees by Thursday, which is over 15 degrees above normal for this time of year.

A few rain showers will be possible ahead of our next cold front Friday, perhaps lingering into early Saturday, when we’ll cool back to the mid-40s.

Slightly warmer today; Breezy with rain chances on Saturday

After a cold start to Friday, the Four States will see temperatures finally above freezing and a good amount of sunshine this afternoon. A cold front will approach us through Saturday, and we could see some drizzle through the day tomorrow. Some of it could freeze to some surfaces Saturday morning before we lift above freezing. Southerly winds up to 30 MPH tomorrow will warm temperatures into the lower 50s.

The best chance for rain will fall after sunset Saturday and before sunrise on Sunday. Most of this system will stay to our southeast, so parts of SE KS may not see hardly any of this rain. Rainfall totals will remain small, likely less than a quarter inch.

This cold front will drop temperatures into the middle 40s on Sunday (which is average for this time of year). We should warm back into the 50s by next week before another rain chance that could fall over us on Thursday. We’ll keep you updated!

Light snow & some travel impacts this morning; Bitterly cold today

Light snow is falling across the Four States this morning, with the higher totals and bigger travel impacts staying north of Jasper and Cherokee counties. Still, a dusting of snow (which is expected across most of SE Kansas and SW Missouri) could create issues on the roads this morning, so give yourself extra time and use caution out the door, and make sure to bundle up! Wind chills will be near zero through Thursday and even into Friday morning. We’ll see some sunshine this afternoon and into Friday. Stay updated with current road conditions through kandrive.org and modot.org.

We’re also watching a rain system to impact us late on Saturday into early Sunday morning, but temperatures should stay above freezing so that we would only see rain. Expect breezy conditions this weekend before we see calm and warm weather into the beginning of next week.

Cooler today; Light and fluffy snow likely overnight

A cold front moved across the Four States last night, allowing for temperatures to be much cooler through Wednesday. We’ll still see mostly clear skies until tonight, when clouds increase ahead of a snow system that will begin after 1 AM. Most, if not all, of the snow will be out of the Four States near sunrise Thursday morning, but enough snow will fall to create a dusting to an inch of accumulation. This should be light and fluffy snow–meaning that travel impacts should be minimal, and it will be hard to pack snowballs and make snowmen. Wind chills will be near zero Thursday and Friday morning. A rain chance is possible late Saturday, that should cool temperatures back down to more average conditions into the beginning of next week.

Windy and warm today; Colder with snow possible Thursday morning

Southerly winds will gust up to 40 MPH today, allowing temperatures to warm into the middle 50s for your Tuesday afternoon with mostly sunny skies. This is ahead of a cold front that will drop temperatures into the upper 30s for highs tomorrow and the middle 20s by Thursday. Late Wednesday night, we’ll be watching a clipper snow system that could bring an inch of accumulation to most of the Four States by Thursday morning. Ground temperatures should be cold enough for travel issues to ensue Thursday morning. This snow would end before lunchtime on Thursday, and temperatures will gradually warm above average again by Saturday.
