Ages 12 and up eligible for Mercy Hospital walk-in vaccine clinic

JOPLIN, Mo. – Mercy Hospital Joplin will hold a walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinic available to all eligible people, including ages 12 and older. The hospital announced it has enough supply accommodate walk-in vaccinations.

It will be available from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19 and Friday, May 21. These are first-dose Pfizer vaccinations only.

The state of Missouri also recently lifted the residency requirement, meaning even those who live in neighboring states can schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment at mercy.net/vaccine, or get one by walk-in.

Mercy Hospital offering walk-in COVID-19 vaccines

JOPLIN, Mo. – Mercy Hospital Joplin announced it has enough supply to offer walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations.

Missouri residents can receive their shot without setting up an appointment on Wednesday, April 21 and Friday, April 23. These are first-dose Pfizer vaccinations only.

Missourians can also schedule an COVID-19 appointment at mercy.net/vaccine.

Missouri expands vaccine eligibility to all adults today

JOPLIN, Mo. – Starting Friday all adults in Missouri are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Anyone 16 and above who did not already qualify for the vaccine can get their shot as the State of Missouri moves into Phase 3. Phase 3 comes just 12 days after the state moved into Phase 2.

Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas expanded eligibility to 16 and up last week.

In Joplin, Freeman Health System accepts applications for its first Phase 3 vaccine clinic. One takes place today from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. You need to pre-register by phone at (417) 502-SHOT or online at freemanhealth.com/service/covid-19 to setup an appointment.

Missouri State University to be the location of ‘Mega’ Vaccine Site

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The State of Missouri looks to vaccinate up to ten-thousand residents at a “Mega” Vaccine Site in Springfield.

It will be held at the Hammond Student Center at Missouri State University. It’s a two-day clinic Thursday April 8 and Friday April 9. The both clinics will be available from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The clinic will use the one dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. You must register in advance through Missouri’s Vaccine Navigator.

MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. – Authorities in McDonald County, Missouri make a breakthrough in a cold case. For 30 years investigators worked off this rendering as they tried to identify a woman only known as “Grace Doe”. Investigators had been referring to the woman as “Grace” as they tried to uncover her identity because they thought, only through the grace of God would they figure out who she was. Now DNA evidence has revealed who she really is, Shawna Beth Garber. Garber was found dead in 1990 on Oscar Talley Road in McDonald County. Lieutenant Hall with the McDonald County Sheriff’s Office says the case is far from closed.

PITTSBURG, Kan. – A multi-million dollar tax settlement involving Pittsburg native and entrepreneur Gene Bicknell has been overturned by the Kansas Court of Appeals. In a two to three decision, the court ruled that the district court of Crawford County improperly put the burden of proving that Bicknell lived in Kansas on the Kansas Department of Revenue. Bicknell’s legal fight with the state centered on whether he lived in Kansas or Florida when he sold his company, NPC International in 2006.

Freeman takes pre-registration for April 9 covid vaccine clinic

JOPLIN, Mo. – Freeman Health System invites Missouri residents 18 and older to pre-register for its upcoming COVID-19 vaccine clinic. This, as the state prepares to activate more vaccine phases.

Last week, Missouri Governor Mike Parson announced the state will activate the following,

  • Phase 2 of the state’s COVID-19 Vaccination Plan on Monday, March 29, 2021
  • Phase 3 on Friday, April 9, 2021

Freeman COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

Freeman is now accepting pre-registrations for its April 9th vaccine clinic. It’s scheduled for 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Those wanting a vaccination can call 417-502-SHOT to register for the vaccine or they can pre-register online at freemanhealth.com/service/covid-19. Pre-registration will prompt a return call from a Freeman employee to schedule a vaccination appointment.

Since December 20, 2020, Freeman has given more than 15,600 doses to staff and the public. Freeman plans to give another 1,200 second doses this week and can give 1,400 first doses this week.

Wilson County hosts walk-in immunization clinic

FREDONIA, Kan. – The Wilson County Health Department hosts a walk-in immunization clinic Monday.

Kansas residents needing an immunization such as a booster shot or children’s vaccines can get inoculated appointment-free at the Health Department in Fredonia, Kansas today from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This is not a COVID-19 vaccine clinic. Those who need the COVID-19 shot need to set an appointment.

Kansas is currently in Phase 2 of its vaccination plan. It includes people aged 65 and older, people in congregate settings, high-contact critical workers, healthcare workers, residents of long-term care facilities and workers critical to pandemic response continuity.
