Hot summer days and little rainfall have led to dry land in the 4-States, raising the risk of larger fires and giving these fires the potential to grow – Here’s what you need to know to stay safe.
Listed below are some local burn bans in effect.
Kansas
CRAWFORD COUNTY – Crawford County Officials announced a burn ban for the county lasting until the order is rescinded.
Oklahoma

OTTAWA COUNTY – Ottawa County officials say the county is under a burn ban due to the extreme risk of fire. Outside grilling is still permitted. Officials say the ban is in place until the area receives significant rainfall or the county rescinds the order.
CRAIG COUNTY – The Board of County Commissioners announced last week a burn ban in Craig County.
DELAWARE COUNTY – Delaware County Commissioners originally placed a burn ban in Delaware County on July 19th and extended the motion for two more weeks on Aug. 2nd. The ban will not be in effect on August 16th if an extension is not passed.
Arkansas
According to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture, there are no current county-wide burn bans in northwest Arkansas.
Missouri
SARCOXIE – In a press release yesterday, Fire Chief Carnes stated that due to the drought conditions, the city decided that it will be under a burn ban until Friday 8/19/22.
PIERCE CITY – Pierce City Fire officials say the city is in a D3 (Extreme Drought) per National Drought Mitigation Center and NOAA. The burn ban was initiated on August 4th, however, the area has not yet reached the rainfall amount needed to rescind the order. Be sure to stay up to date with the Pierce City Fire Department below.
CLINTON – Fire Chief Mark Manuel announced a burn ban later in July this year. The releases indicate the ban will remain in effect until the city receives a notable amount of moisture. A notice will be issued once the burn ban is lifted.
MCDONALD COUNTY – The burn ban previously put in place in McDonald County has been lifted.
BARRY COUNTY – Officials in Barry County announced its previous burn ban has been lifted. The county asks residents to continue to report their controlled burns to the appropriate 911 center, monitor their fires & use caution.
POLK COUNTY: Bolivar, Mo – Officials announced that due to recent rainfall in the area, the Bolivar City Fire Department and Polk County Emergency Management are lifting the citywide burn ban that was enacted Wednesday, July 6, and the countywide ban that followed. Regular city and county ordinances now apply to burning within Bolivar city limits and Polk County.
