Volunteers look to memorialize the nation’s veterans

Many people, even veterans, may not know about the National Wreaths Across America (WAA) event. Every year volunteers across the country make it their goal to lay wreaths at the graves of America’s veterans. This isn’t just a nationally recognized event, but one that takes place right here in the Four States every year. Mary Gilpin and Donita Dupslaff, volunteers from the Daughters of the American Revolution, sat down with Jaylon Banks to let the community know not just about the annual event, but to also talk about the WAA Mobile Education Exhibit coming up at PSU. This exclusively local event will provide an opportunity to educate the community on WAA, and to also raise awareness for wreath sponsorship to honor every veteran at Fort Scott National Cemetery. Here’s the information you need:

  • WAA Mobile Education Exhibit
  • Hosted by Oceanus Hopkins Chapter, NSDAR and Fort Scott Chapter, KSSAR
  • October 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Pittsburg State University Veterans Memorial
  • 1909 S Rouse St
