Robert E. Mosier, Jr.

Robert E. Mosier, Jr., 90, of Pittsburg, passed away at 5:59 a.m. Sunday, June 19, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born September 8, 1931 at Pittsburg, the son of Robert E. Sr. and Lucy (Smith) Mosier. He graduated from Pittsburg High School, Fort Scott Community College, where he played football. He then attended Pittsburg State University, where he played football and competed on the track team, before graduating with a Master’s Degree in Education.

On June 8, 1952, he was united in marriage to Donna Engelman at Wichita, Kansas. She preceded him in death in 2006.

Mr. Mosier started his career as a principal, before becoming a Superintendent of Schools, working in Greenburg, KS, Kirwin, KS, Agra, OK and Palco, KS. Mr. Mosier moved back to Pittsburg in 2009.

Mr. Mosier attended the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg.  He was a member of the Superintendents Association and the Rotary Club and Lions Club of Greensburg. He was also a former of the Pittsburg Kiwanis Club. He was involved with politics and loved to polka dance and go to the casino.

Survivors include a daughter, Krista Kay Young of Pittsburg; a son, Robert Kerry Mosier of Burns, Kansas; two brothers, Danny Mosier of Girard, Kansas and Charlie Mosier of Idaho; seven grandchildren, Nathan Young, Richard Young, Geoffrey (Danielle)  Young, Savannah (Jake) Bedoka, Robert Young, Jenny Young and Adam Mosier; and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Della Monsour and Sandra Mackey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (July 2) at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Mark Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be given to Robert E. Mosier, Jr. Scholarship Fund. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS  66762.
