Latest updated blog: The heat kicking in! -Doug

Good Thursday evening!  I hope your week is going fantastic.  Mine has been pretty good.  The weather hasn’t been bad, just warm and a little humid.  But the heat is coming back after most of July has been nice with highs in the 80s.  However, here come the 90s.  In fact, first off look at the next 10 days.

Also the humidity is returning, so that means heat indices back near or above 100 degrees.  First of the smoke.

If you have noticed the haze in the evenings with the reddish sunsets, that is due to the big wide fires out in the western 1/3rd of the country.  The smoke pushes east with the upper level winds and here it is.  It will actually clear up a bit in the next couple of days at least around here.  90s or at least 90 should return on Friday.  We will have partly sunny skies and again a rand isolated shower or two.

Heat indices will be around 95ish Friday but near 100 if not above by Saturday.

So what is causing all of this?  We are watching a heat dome or big ridge of high pressure getting strong out west and actually pushing closer to us over the weekend.

So in return, we get hot, humid and not much rain.  We will have chances the next few days for random pop up PM showers but that is it!  Boring weather! Long range forecast is below.

-Doug

August 1st-7th:  Stay hot with mainly 90s most of the week.  I do think we will drop back into the 80s for Friday and Saturday.  Isolated storms Tuesday through Friday.

August 8th-14th:  The first half of the week will be hot with a warm second half of the week.  Isolated pop up storms just about each and every day.

August 15th-21st:  A warm start to the week and then a hot finish.  Isolated storms on Sunday and Monday, then again by Saturday.

August 22nd-28th:  Mainly a warm week with isolated storms Tuesday through Thursday.

August 29th-September 4th:  A warm work week but hot into the weekend.  Thunderstorm chances Sunday, Monday and Thursday.

September 5th-11th:  A hot start then back to warm the second half of the week.  Scattered storms Tuesday through Saturday.
