George Warren Koons, age 85, Baxter Springs, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at his residence.

He was born September 28, 1936 in Hallowell, Kansas to the late Earl Terry Koons and Ethal Pearl Loppe Koons. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by five brothers; one sister; and a daughter.

George owned and operated his own welding business, farm, cattle ranch and auction business. Membership was held in the 1st Christian Church of Columbus and the Mirza Shrine in Pittsburg.

He married Beverly Jo Pyne at the 1st Christian Church in Columbus, KS. She survives in the home. Additional survivors include one son; two grandsons; one granddaughter; and 2 great grandchildren.

Memorial services are planned for 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2022, at the Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus.
