Nancy Jean McMurray

Nancy Jean McMurray, a resident of Parsons, KS died Saturday, September 4, 2021. She was born on May 8, 1955 to Jack and Lorene (Phipps) Farmer in Smithville, MO. After graduating high school, she became a mother and homemaker. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and shopping for her material for her projects. She had just finished two quilts for family members before her death. On May 28, 1982, Nancy married Carl McMurray in Miami, OK. They were married until his death in 1999. After Carl’s death, Nancy moved to Fredonia, KS and later to Parsons where her daughter April cared for her. They enjoyed their time together playing card games of Skipbo and Rummy-O.

Nancy is survived by her brother Mike Farmer, daughter April Headley of Parsons, KS, sons William James of Indiana, Michael James of Wichita, KS, two step-children Nichole Stanley and Shawn McMurray of Florida and 8 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl, a brother and one sister.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, KS at 1:00pm.

Memorials have been suggested to the Mother’s Against Drunk Driving organization and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.
