Wanda F. Brannon

Wanda Faye Brannon, age 97, passed away Sunday evening, June 27th, 2021 at Quaker Hill Skilled Nursing Facility.

Wanda was born October 6, 1923 in Japton, Arkansas. Wanda and Oran Kelly Brannon were united in marriage October 12, 1945 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. They remained residents of Northwest Arkansas until 1959 when they relocated to Southeast Kansas. Wanda has been a resident of Riverton, Kansas, since 1960, until she entered Quaker Hill Skilled Nursing Facility on November 1, 2020.

She was a faithful member of Crossroads Christian Church (formally Southside Christian Church) serving as a childrens’ Sunday school teacher, Meals on Wheels cook, and church treasurer.

Wanda was a housewife after working various jobs earlier in her marriage. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies including: ceramics, crocheting, sewing, canning, bowling, and collecting various dolls.

Wanda was the oldest of eleven children. Surviving siblings include a brother, Wendell Parker (Dorothy), Elkins, Arkansas and a sister, Patsy Parker of Elkins, Arkansas, sisters-in-laws: Thelma Parker (Huntsville, AR), Bessie Parker (Brannon Mountain, AR).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oran Kelly Brannon, her parents, Ewell and Ollie (Harriman) Parker, four brothers and four sisters.

Surviving children: Vincent Brannon (Joy), Riverton, KS, Harley Brannon (Jana), Pittsburg, KS, and Janis Crane (Kent) Riverton, KS. Grandchildren: Sam Brannon, Veronica (Brannon) Moore, Matthew Brannon and Melissa (Crane) Wesley. Great Grandchildren: Jacob, Jarod, and Jayden Moore, Morgan Brannon, Blake and Avery Brannon, Mekaylen, Malachi, and Motia Wesley.

Funeral service will be Friday, July 2, 2021 at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel in Baxter Springs, KS with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM and the service following at 11:00 AM. Cameron Woodring will officiate. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
