Pickup rear ended and overturned near Oronogo

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. — Just after 10 p.m. Saturday night, October 8, 2022, reports of a two-vehicle crash along MO-96 near CR240 alerted Jasper County E-911.

On scene we learn from Sgt B. Crockett of Troop D, two pickups were traveling eastbound on MO-96, just east of CR-240.

The driver of the pickup in the rear admitted to using his phone, looked up and struck the other pickup in the left rear, causing it to go off-road, through a barbed wire fence, overturning.

Two people in the pickup overturned were transported to Freeman West hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

They were not wearing seat belts.

The driver of the other pickup was not injured.

H&H Wrecker removed the vehicles from the crash scene.
