MONROE COUNTY, Mo. – Just before noon on Thursday, November 17, 2022 reports of a tractor trailer being struck by a freight train near Paris, Mo.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop B report that no one was injured as the tractor trailer was hauling a 196ft silo tank that failed to clear the tracks as the approaching freight train slammed into it at an intersection.
“Norfolk Southern and NTSB were both contacted shortly after MSHP received the initial information of the trail derailment. Officers remain on scene no further updates to come as investigations are being conducted.” – TROOP B, 4:30 p.m.
No hazmat was involved in the collision.

The freight train was carrying car parts, grain, & car frames.
The tractor trailer was hauling a 196ft Silo tank.

The railroad crossing will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.
The train and approximately 5-6 box cars derailed.
