Woman killed in t-bone crash near Carthage, Mo.

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. — Just before 11:45 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022 reports of a two-vehicle crash at CR70 and Nutmeg Road alerted Jasper County E-911.

Carthage Fire, Jasper County Deputies and Mercy Ambulance responded. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified. Barton County Electric were notified of a damaged utility pole.

On scene Tpr A.J. Cook tells us a southbound car on CR70 was struck by a car traveling west on Nutmeg Road. One driver died at the scene.

Tpr Cook says the neither driver were wearing seatbelts. The deceased was ejected.

Next of kin have been notified. Linda Getty, 73, of Avilla, Mo. was pronounced at the scene. She was driving a 2018 Ford Fusion.

Christian Blevins, 21, of Carthage, Mo. was driving a 2007 Chevy Impala. He suffered minor injuries and was transported by Mercy Ambulance to Mercy Joplin.

Schrader’s Towing removed both vehicles from the crash scene.

Barton County Electric replaced at least one pole at the intersection that was broken in half in the crash.

45,000 pounds of dog food overturns on Baseline Blvd

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. — About 6:45 p.m. Thursday evening Jasper County Emergency 911 were alerted to reports of a tractor trailer crash near Baseline and Civil War Road, north of Carthage.

Jasper Fire Rescue, Mercy Ambulance and Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies responded. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified.

The tractor trailer overturned, blocking westbound side of Baseline Blvd/State Route M.

Tpr A.J. Cook of Troop D tells us on scene that tractor trailer was traveling east on Baseline. The driver said he lost his rear wheels off the edge of the road and tried to overcorrect and it rolled to its side.

The driver remains on the scene and declined medical attention.

“The trailer is loaded with 45,000 pounds of dog food,” Tpr Cook says.

Schrader’s Towing will remove the load from the box trailer before setting both of them upright.

It’s estimated the cleanup and removal could take until midnight.

“Use caution or try to avoid the area of Base Line Blvd. and Civil War Road. We just finished working a crash with an overturned semi and there will be trucks working to off load and upright the vehicle.”    — JASPER FIRE & RESCUE
