WILLARD, Mo. – Authorities charge a former Southwest Missouri high school soccer coach with sex crimes. Tim Magee of Willard faces three counts of second-degree statutory sodomy. He was scheduled for a plea hearing, but it was rescheduled for a third time. Court records say Magee admitted to having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl back in 2009. FORT SCOTT, Ks. – Late Monday evening Fort Scott Fire Department was alerted to a fire at Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church at 705 S Holbrook St. The chief of fire says the roof of the Mary Queen of Angels catholic church is a complete loss and the basement is flooded. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the state fire marshal’s office, along with local fire investigators. Click here if you are interested in reading more about this story.

KANSAS – Kansas governor Laura Kelly proposed adding $20 million to the state’s annual $2 million allotment to the affordable housing program. She says she’s also worked with a bipartisan group of legislators to allocate an additional $50 million for housing throughout the state. With the investments, Kansas will see a two-year investment of more than $90 million targeted toward the state’s rural areas and small cities.

JOPLIN, Mo. – The city of Joplin begins work on the next phase of the 32nd street widening project. Last week workers finished the first section of the street. The project will widen the street from Schifferdecker avenue to Central City road. The design includes adding a center lane and constructing a sidewalk shared-use path. Ex-Kansas sheriff’s official faces child porn, sex counts

WAKEENY, Kan. (AP) – A former official with a western Kansas sheriff’s office has been arrested on charges of trafficking in child pornography and sex crimes involving children.

Blaine Dryden, 62, of WaKenney, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant charging him with aggravated internet trading of child pornography and several counts of sexual exploitation of a child, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

The alleged crimes occurred between November 2019 and last June, while Dryden was a lieutenant with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, investigators said. Dryden was placed on administrative leave by the Ellis County sheriff when the department learned of the investigation, and his employment with the office ended in July.

Dryden was being held in the Graham County Jail on $750,000 bond.
