Chanute pursuit suspect bails out of moving vehicle during chase

CHANUTE, Kan. – Chanute police arrested a chase suspect after he bailed out of a moving vehicle with two passengers still inside.

It happened Saturday, June 5, around 9:10 p.m. Chanute police officers attempted to stop a van traveling north near the 2700 block of South Santa Fe at a high rate of speed. Authorities say the driver refused to stop and led police on a chase. During the pursuit, the suspect hit another vehicle and sped away.

As the vehicle approached 7th and Santa Fe, the passenger side front tire came off and the van began to slow down. The driver jumped out and took off west on foot. Police say the van continued to roll across 7th street and came to a rest at  a utility pole. There were still two adult females in the vehicle but both were unharmed.

Another officer apprehended the driver about a half block away. He was arrested on for speeding, reckless driving, driving without a valid license, improper driving on a laned roadway, failing to stop at an accident, no insurance, interference with a law enforcement officer, felony flee and elude, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. They also arrested the two females for possession of Methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officials charged have not yet been filed.

Pittsburg police chase ends with vehicle ablaze

PITTSBURG, Kan. – A police chase in Pittsburg, Kansas Wednesday morning results in a vehicle fire and two suspects behind bars.

According to a press release from the Pittsburg Police Department, the incident began at 10:40 a.m. near the 200 block of E 24th Terrace in Pittsburg. An officer attempted to stop a spray painted Ford Fusion. The car didn’t pull over led police on a chase to N Joplin St. and then to E 20th St where it went into the south bound alley. It continued to flee down alleys until it crashed into a fence and a pole in the 1600 block of N Joplin St. The suspects fled the scene foot

After the crash the vehicle began smoking and caught fire. Pittsburg Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the flames. Investigators the vehicle was reported stolen out of rural Crawford County in early April. They found illegal drugs believed to methamphetamine and associated paraphernalia left in the car.

Police arrested both the driver and the passenger of the vehicle. Authorities identified the driver as 29-year-old John Robertson Jr. and the passenger as 22-year-old Kaitlyn McMurry, both of Pittsburg.

 

Robertson was arrested for felony possession of stolen property, felony possession of methamphetamine, felony flee and elude, felony interference with law enforcement, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, no valid driver’s license, and a warrant out of the City of Frontenac. He’s held in the Crawford County Jail on $3,435 bond.

McMurry was placed under arrest for felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, an Allan County Kansas felony warrant, two Crawford County probation violation warrants, and a City of Pittsburg Warrant. She’s also booked at the Crawford County Jail but with no bond.

 

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.

Nevada man wanted after stolen vehicle pursuit ends in fire

VERNON COUNTY, Mo. – Authorities search for a Nevada resident suspected of leading a police chase in a stolen vehicle.

On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office got warrants for Joshua Hallam, 38, for resisting arrest and driving while revoked.

On March 1, 2021, law enforcement took a report of a stolen two-tone Chevy Suburban out of Nevada. Deputies later saw the vehicle and tried to make a traffic stop.

“They spotted the vehicle leaving a gas station in Nevada and when they attempted to stop it, it ran from deputies,” said Mosher.

According to the press release, deputies pursued the vehicle into the county southeast of Nevada. Additional units responded to assist. They followed the suspect down Veterans road southeast of Nevada until it came to a dead-end.

Authorities say the vehicle then continued to drive through a field and into the woods where it hit a tree and caught on fire. Hallam then fled on foot from deputies, but due to the vehicle fire, deputies stayed behind.

Authorities are now searching for Hallam and ask that anyone with information regarding his whereabouts contact the Sheriff’s Office at 417-667-6042.

 

2 suspects on loose after Anderson police chase, officer injured

ANDERSON, Mo. – Two suspects remain on the loose and a police officer is recovering following a Sunday pursuit in Anderson, Missouri.

The police chase started at Route F and Hwy 59 on March 7, 2021 around 10:39 p.m.

A police officer tried to stop a maroon colored Jeep for failing to stop at a stop sign. The Police Department says the vehicle fled south on Hwy 59. The officer pursued the vehicle through several city streets. The vehicle then stopped near the intersection of Anderson Street and West State Highway 76.

A passenger got out of the vehicle and fired a 12 gauge shotgun at the patrol car windshield. According to the Anderson Police Department, the officer returned fire.

The passenger got back into the vehicle, which then drover about 100 yards and stopped again. The passenger bailed out and ran down an alley between West State Hwy 76 and 4th Street. The vehicle drove off.

Multiple agencies responded and set up a perimeter. They found the discarded shotgun in the alley. They also found the abandoned vehicle near West State Highway 76 and Roark Street.

Authorities looked for the suspects throughout the night but didn’t find the suspects. The Police Department sys there was a possible sighting of one suspect near the laundry mat in Anderson.

The Officer is recovering from minor injuries.

Police are still investigating and plan to release further information at a later time.
