U.S. Marshals arrest man in Ohio, wanted for Attempted Murder in Parsons, Kan.

PARSONS, Kan. – The U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force has arrested Parsons Police shooting suspect, David Lamont Young III, in Cleveland, Ohio, today.

Young is the suspect in the March 5, 2022, shooting at the ‘Somewhere Else Bar that resulted in one man being shot and transported to the hospital.

The Labette County Prosecuting Attorney’s office filed the following charges and a warrant was issued by a judge for Young’s arrest:

  • Attempted 2nd Degree Murder
  • Criminal Possession of a Firearm by a Felon

The U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force was able to follow up on this warrant as Young had fled the Parsons Police jurisdiction.

Detective McGuire said, “it is great news that this dangerous felon has been captured and no one else was hurt. We now have to sit back and hope that the judicial system will put him behind bars for a lengthy stay so that nobody else can be hurt. Habitual felons are a continuing risk as they tend to victimize over and over.”

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force is an inter-agency resource that local and state law enforcement partner with to track down felons who are on the run. The task force has worked with the Parson Police Department on several cases that have been successfully resolved in recent years on in state and interstate cases.

Man wanted on Attempted Murder charges stemming from shooting in Parsons, Kan.

PARSON, Kan. — Earlier this month, March 5, 2022, at approximately 1:49 a.m., Parsons Police were called to Somewhere Else Bar, 2016 Crawford Ave, for a reported shooting in the parking lot.

Upon arrival officers located Tyrone Mayweathers, 42 years old of Kansas City, suffering multiple gunshot wounds. The victim remains under medical care at an undisclosed location.

The investigation now reveals there was a large fight in the parking lot.

Parsons Police Detectives obtained a felony arrest warrant for David Lamont Young III, 26. The felony arrest warrant extends to the entire nation for inter-state extradition. He will face the following charges:

  • Attempted 2nd Degree Murder
  • Criminal Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Parsons Police have also notified the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force who are now actively seeking Young.

Parsons Police believe Young fled the area after the shooting.

Parsons Police Department Lieutenant Kyle Wiford states in a release of information, “this is not the first time that Young has been connected to a shooting, we consider him to be armed and dangerous based on a combination of past criminal convictions, associating with known felons, and based on information. Citizens are advised to use caution and to notify police.”
