Calvin “Glen” McAfee, age 88, a farmer, died Tuesday December 6, 2022 at his home in Goodman, MO.

Daniel Edward Lohman

Daniel Edward Lohman of North Miami, OK went to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Eastwood Manor in Commerce, OK. He was 88.

Daniel was born October 31, 1934 in Salina, KS to Roland and Pauline (Pitts) Lohman. He had lived in North Miami for the past 26 years moving from Oklahoma City. Daniel graduated from Salina High School in Salina, KS and was the plant operations manager for Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Miami, OK.

Daniel was preceded in death by a great – granddaughter Kayla Kapelke and his parents.

He is survived by his wife Kerry (Sexton) Lohman of the home, 1 son Dan Lohman and wife Bonnie of Piedmont, OK, 3 daughters, Rona Starns and husband Rolf of Clinton, AR and Rebecca Melton and husband Matt of Piedmont, OK, Shelly Pyper of Cabot, AR 1 brother, Ron Lohman of Denver, CO, 11 grandchildren, 16 great – grandchildren, nephew Michael Lohman and friend and mother of his children, Ruth Ray of Cabot, AR.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Rev. Mark Nickles will officiate. Interment will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, OK. Dan Lohman, Rolf Starns, Matt Melton, Bill Marley, Harrell Post and John McMain will serve as pallbearers. Michael “Mike” Eugene Allen

Michael “Mike” Eugene Allen of North Miami, OK passed from this life Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Integris Miami Hospital in Miami, OK. He was 64.

Mike was born February 3, 1958 in Lincoln, NE to Vernon and Frances (Lindstrom) Allen. He had lived in North Miami, OK for 30 years moving from Tuscaloosa, AL and grew up in Commerce, OK and graduated from Commerce High School class of 1976. Mike had worked for B.F. Goodrich in Miami and Tuscaloosa

Mike was preceded in death by his wife Deanna Allen on April 14, 2012, his parents and 1 brother, Jerry Allen.

Survivors include 2 sons, Shane Allen and wife Trish of Miami, OK and Travis Allen and wife Nicole of Miami, OK, 1 daughter, Jessica Glidewell and husband Josh of Quapaw, OK, 2 sisters, Kim Ewoldt of Hattiesburg, MS and Kelli Clark of Verdigris, OK, 5 grandchildren, Devyn Allen, Destry Allen, Bailee Allen, Camrynn Glidewell and Averie Allen and 1 great – grandchild, Michah Allen.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Rev. Mike Ewoldt will officiate. Judy Ann Campbell

Judy Ann Campbell of Miami, OK passed from this life Monday, December 5, 2022 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. She was 59.

Judy was born November 1, 1963 in Fontana, CA to Andrew and Judy Roberta (Moreland) Kazimir. She had lived in Miami since 1994 moving from California. She graduated from Fontana High School class of 1982 in Fontana, CA. She had worked at the Townsman Motel in Miami, OK, area nursing homes and Ottawa County Jail. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Miami, OK.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Judy Kazimir.

Judy is survived by her husband, Brian Campbell of the home, 1 son, Lukan David Campbell of the home, her father, Andrew Kazimir of Miami, OK, 2 brothers, Charles Bernard Kazimir of Boise, ID and John Patrick Kazimir of Miami, OK.

Trey Alexander Cunningham

Trey Alexander Cunningham of Grove, OK passed from this life, Monday, December 5, 2022 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. He was 20.

Trey was born October 18, 2002 at Miami, OK to John and Melanie (Nielsen) Cunningham. He had lived in Grove, OK for the past 4 years moving from Miami, OK. Trey was a forklift operator for Renew Bio Mass in Commerce, OK and a member of First Christian Church in Miami, OK.

Trey was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Delphin Ralph Cunningham and 2 uncles, Daniel Nielsen and Douglas Nielsen.

Amaya Mae Robison of Vinita, OK passed from this life Saturday, December 3, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. She was 2 months old.

Amaya was born September 23, 2022 at Miami, OK to Cheyenne Mae Louise Robison.

Amaya was preceded in death by maternal grandmother Norma Robison and maternal grandfather Johnny Robison.

Brandon Jeffrey Hay

Brandon Jeffrey Hay, age 35 of Galena, passed away at 1:02 am on Saturday, December 3, 2022, following a short illness.

Brandon was born in Ventura, California on August 19, 1987, to the union of Jeffrey Kenneth Hay and Carmen Lucille (Standley) Hay. He graduated from Riverton High School with the class of 2006 and followed up his education with different college and law enforcement training courses over the years.

Brandon worked for various Cherokee County law enforcement agencies, most recently with the Cherokee County Sherriff’s Department, ending his career as the SRO for Riverton School in July of 2022. Helping others, especially the students, was his passion and he touched many lives in his time.

Brandon is survived by his parents – Jeff and Carmen Hay of Galena, his brother – Kyle Jacob Hay of Logan, Utah and his sister – Amanda Jean Kemp of Joplin, Missouri. He leaves behind a daughter, Skyy Marie Hay, the joy of his life, of Riverton, Kansas. Brandon will be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as many friends and colleagues.

Brandon found Love and happiness in his last few months with his girlfriend, Rebecca Heckmaster. We grieve with her and her boys for what could have been, but believe that God placed them in his life to help him find peace during his last days and pray for healing and renewed joy for all of them.

Brandon accepted Christ as his savior and was baptized as a child. He recently rededicated his life to the Lord and was led in the profession of faith by Pastor Brad Hunt and has now been welcomed into the arms of our Savior. He no longer faces the struggles and heartache that we deal with here on earth. All his pain has been taken away and he is now filled with everlasting joy.

He will be missed by many but will live on in the hearts and minds of those that knew and loved him until we meet him again in the glorious kingdom of Heaven.

Brandon has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation. The family will host a memorial service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Park Hill Nazarene Church, 2701 S. Main Street, Galena, KS.

Tristan Harold Cosby, precious infant son of Aaron Wayne Cosby and Samantha Nicole Todd, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Susan B. Allen Medical Center in El Dorado, Kansas.

Amy Elizabeth Spidle

Amy Nichols Spidle, 102 years young, made her transition from this earth to God’s eternal life on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.  Born in Joplin, she returned in 1953 to raise her family and become a valued member of Joplin society.

Amy had two daughters, April Nichols Good, Creve Coeur, Missouri, and Terry Nichols Smith (deceased 2016); one sister, Joan Southerland Metten (deceased 2021), and a niece, Sandra Hanselman Benti of Connecticut.

Amy had 7 grandchildren; Dr.Shawn Good, PhD (Andrea/3 children) Idaho; Melissa Carter, OMM (2 children) Florida; Reed Good, AIA, (Kathy/2 daughters) Colorado; Dr. Heather Stalcup,DC (3 children) Missouri;Carrie Good,CMA(5 children)Iowa; David Harrison (1 child) and Daniel Pliler (2 children) Missouri.

Amy was a veteran of World War II, serving the United States in the Navy as a pharmacist’s mate.  She attended UCLA & Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.  Amy retired from Sperry Vickers in Joplin at its dissolution in 1987.

Amy was a member of St. Phillips Episcopal Church since 1953.  She served the Well Child Clinic of St. Phillips in the 1950s & the Joplin Community Clinic in the 2000s, as well as serving many local charitable associations throughout the years.

Amy has resided at St. Luke’s Residential community in Carthage, Missouri since 2016.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to your local food pantry.

Private graveside services will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City.  Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary in Joplin.

Ronald “Ron” W. Burns

Ronald “Ron” W. Burns, 86, of Fredonia, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022 at Morningstar Care in Fredonia. Ron was born on December 31, 1935 in Wichita, KS the son of Clifford Emmet and Ella Martha (Mason) Burns.
On December 27, 1959 at the First United Methodist Church in Fredonia, Ron married Maurine Ruth Hise. Ron and Maurine were married for 56 years until her death of April 10, 2016.
Ron was a graduate of Elk City High School, he also served in the U.S. Army for 2 years. Ron worked various jobs throughout his life in the gas and oil business, ultimately retiring from his own company Burns Oil Company. Ron also worked with survey crews, with the Wilson County engineer and one of his jobs was plotting sections at the Fredonia City Cemetery.
Ron was very social, he enjoyed going to the coffee shops, visiting and just meeting people. Ron could travel anywhere and would meet people that he knew. Ron was a charter member of the Old Iron Club, and a member of the Optimist Club. Ron enjoyed being outdoors, woodworking and making brooms. Most of all, Ron enjoyed being with his friends and family.
