News To Know: deceased couple found, fugitive apprehended

NEOSHO, Mo. – The Neosho Police Department opens an investigation after two residents were found deceased inside their home. On October 23, Neosho Police Dispatch received reports of a deceased male and female at the 1000 block of Stratford Place. When NPD Officers arrived, they discovered Charles Barnett, 87,  and Donna Barnett, 78, of Neosho, as well as a .38 caliber firearm. The media release indicates both subjects were deceased at the time of discovery. After further investigation, NPD Officers determined the deaths were a result of a murder-suicide. MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. – Authorities say Dawn Wynn is back in custody.  Complete details of her capture are not known.  She is in Indiana currently. Wynn originally left a note at her mother’s home in Pea Ridge, Arkansas stating she was suicidal. Arkansas authorities put out an alert for her well-being.

JAY, Okla. – A trial by jury was cut short today after a man suspected of shooting and killing his wife pleaded guilty to 1st Degree Murder. On November 4th, 2020, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation arrested 52-year-old, John Hackathorn, on one count of First Degree Murder. Authorities say they found 60-year-old Mary Hackathorn dead in the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Hackathorn entered a guilty plea on October 24, 2022, and received a life sentence in prison with the possibility of parole. Click here to read more about this story.

JOPLIN, Mo. – The Joplin police department says a fatal crash involving a Joplin pedestrian came after a separate motorcycle crash near the northbound exit near Zora & Main Street. Police officers identified the pedestrian as 24-year-old Andrew P. Dodson, of Joplin. Dodson was pronounced dead at the scene. To read more about this story, click here.

Rear end crash claims life of man in Neosho

NEOSHO, Mo. – Just after 2:30 P.M. on Tuesday, September 20th, the Neosho Police Dispatch received calls regarding a crash near Highway 86 and Baxter Street.

When Neosho Police Officers arrived on the scene, they learned that a 2022 Buick Encore traveling eastbound on Highway 86 struck the rear of a 2021 Hyundai Elantra which was stopped in the left-hand turn lane.

Officers later identified the Buick driver as 74-year-old Charles Hixson of Neosho. The Newton County Coroner’s Office later pronounced Hixson deceased on the scene.

Police say the driver of the Hyundai, Shirayne Rabualiman 21-year-old of Neosho, was treated and released on scene by the Newton County Ambulance.

Neosho man killed in crash, thrown from bed of pickup truck; Driver determined DWI as crash investigation begins

NEOSHO, Mo. – Just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening reports of a serious crash on the Boulevard in Neosho alerted Newton County Central Communications.

The roadway was closed down immediately, all lanes north and south.

NEOSHO FATAL F-150 CRASH PRESS RELEASE SEPT 8 2022

Neosho Police Brandon Beshears tells us three vehicles were involved. A Ford F-150 pickup pulled into traffic from a business, 1039 S Neosho Blvd, and was struck by two northbound vehicles.

There were two individuals in the bed of the pickup truck, both were ejected onto the pavement.

Ofc Beshears says the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in marking out the crash scene for investigation.

The driver of the pickup was transported to a Joplin hospital. He suffered moderate injuries.

One male thrown from the pickup bed suffered moderate injuries.

A second male thrown from the pickup bed, Jeremy Olmstead, 39, of Neosho was pronounced deceased at Mercy Joplin. Next of kin have been notified.

Chief Baird states in a media release Thursday,  “per state law all drivers were tested for blood alcohol content, and it was determined the driver of the Ford F-150 was under the influence of intoxicants. Pending the completion of the investigation, charges will be submitted to the Newton County Prosecutor’s office for review.”

The two drivers of in the northbound vehicles were not injured.

The roadway was reopened about 9:45 p.m.

Poore’s Towing removed the pickup from the crash scene.

House fire in Neosho, all residents out safely

NEOSHO, Mo. — About 5:15 a.m. Monday call for fire at 712 West Spring Street alerted Dispatch.

Neosho Fire, Neosho Police and Newton County Ambulance responded. Redings Mill Fire requested as mutual aid.

On scene we learn from Neosho Police no residents were injured. Everyone was out safely.

Officer tells us when he arrived it was fully involved, saying “they got it out fast.”

Liberty Utilities were summoned to disconnect electric service to the house.

Missing juvenile in Neosho, Mo.

NEOSHO, Mo. — Authorities in Newton County , Mo. are seeking the whereabouts of a juvenile who was last seen in her home early Tuesday morning, May 10.

The Neosho Police Department took a report of a missing juvenile, Itali Renee Savage. Itali was last seen in her home on 05-10-22. Itali may have left the residence under her own will.” — NPD
