Thank you to the wonderful people of McDonald County! For two days, we’ve been trying to capture a suspect who ran from Pineville Police and deputies Sunday. We had many calls and tips from local people. Due to the info and with the help, we were able to catch our guy late this morning. Teamwork is the key! Special thanks to Emergency Management Director Gregg Sweeten for putting the word out through his system!” – Sheriff Rob Evenson

This new system asks locals in McDonald County citizens to register so only the portion of the county being investigated will be notified with immediate details.

McDonald County Emergency Manager Greg Sweeten states, “So, the last few days we have been using the new alerting system for a manhunt. We are able to home in on a specific area of the county without sending unneeded alerts to folks who aren’t in the search area. So, with that being said we know that a lot of times folks don’t like to put in their addresses into a system. This system will also make voice calls to home phones and cell phones that are attached to the address in the alert area. The location where the suspect was caught had been notified this morning that the suspect was in the immediate area and knew what to do when he approached. We are explaining how important it is to have you address in this system for just such things. It may not be a manhunt it may be a chemical spill where a specific area needs to be targeted and important lifesaving information needs to be sent out. We don’t want or need your address for anything else other than to alert you for just such things. We are always trying to find ways to better our service to our citizens and be able to provide the most current and accurate information we can.”
