Diamond man win $50,000 Powerball Prize

DIAMOND, Mo. – A Diamond, Missouri man is sitting $50,000 richer after winning a Missouri Lottery prize. Roger Hirshey matched four out of the five white-ball numbers on May 22. The winning numbers were 3, 19, 27, 37 and 40 with a Powerball number of 8.

The winning ticket was purchased at Pump N Pantry, 45 Highway 59, in Diamond. The win marked the 280th time a Missouri Lottery player has won a $50,000 Powerball prize since 2015.

Saturday night’s Powerball jackpot is estimated at $253 million.

Missouri lawmakers vote to keep lottery winners secret

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) – Missouri lawmakers have passed legislation that could keep the names of state lottery winners secret.

State House members Jay Mosely said Thursday that the intent of his bill is to keep winners from being harassed or threatened. The bill, which won final approval Wednesday, would make it a misdemeanor crime for lottery officials to identify winners.

The North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries says all but a very few states require the names and cities of winners to be made public. The Missouri Lottery says releasing the identity of winners helps promote sales and ensures the integrity of the games.

Joplin man accidentally wins $50,000 on scratch-off ticket

JOPLIN, Mo. – Joplin resident Bryan Burton is counting his lucky stars after a mix-up net him $50,000.

When Burton went into the Casey’s General Store on Main St. in Joplin, he was after the Missouri Lottery’s “$100,000 Cash.” However, the clerk accidentally gave him the “Millionaire Money” Scratchers game.

“I asked for game 313, and she gave me game 294 instead,” he said.

That ticket he got by mistake led to a $50,000 win for Burton. Burton exclaimed he was overcome with excitement and immediately called his wife to let her know the good news.

$40,000 Mega Millions ticket sold in Southeast Kansas

TOPEKA, Kan. – Someone in the Four-States is $40,000 richer and might not even know it yet. A winning Mega Millions ticket was sold in Southeast Kansas on April 16.

The winning numbers were 17 27 28 50 55 a power ball of 25 and a Megaplier of 4. The winner matched four of those numbers and the Mega Ball for a $10,000 win, but because they chose the Megaplier option, their prize multiplied to 40-thousand dollars.

It’s not clear what county the ticket was sold in. The Southeast Kansas region includes the following counties: Chase, Lyon (southern half), Coffey, Anderson, Linn, Greenwood, Woodson, Allen, Bourbon, Elk, Wilson, Neosho, Crawford, Chautauqua, Montgomery, Labette, and Cherokee.
