Man wanted on outstanding Felony Warrants taken into custody, now facing new charges

JOPLIN, Mo. – Early Thursday morning Joplin Police arrived to 1116 S McKinley Ave, warrant in-hand for the arrest of Hunter Sease, 19. The young man was wanted on multiple outstanding Felony warrants including Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.

Sease refused to exit the home when officers arrived.

After numerous attempts to get him to peacefully surrender were unsuccessful, JPD officers and on duty SWAT team members deployed a chemical munition into the residence. Sease surrendered a short time later. He was transported to the Joplin City Jail where he remains in custody with no bond.” – Capt William Davis

Sease had felony warrants out of Jasper and Newton County related to a vehicle pursuit in 2020 where he rammed a Joplin PD K9 officer on I-44, totaling the K9 vehicle. Sease continued to flee into Joplin and crashed into a utility pole at 7th and Pearl Avenue. As he was being taken into custody, he assaulted another Joplin PD officer.After that string of events he was arrested for

  • Assault in the First Degree (special victim)
  • Assault in the Third Degree (special victim)
  • Assault on a Police Animal
  • Property Damage in the First Degree
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Driving While Intoxicated.

An additional charge of Resisting Arrest are being sought from Thursday’s incident Capt William Davis says.Sease has a newly filed case in Joplin City Court for Stealing/Larceny. His next court date is May 5 on that case.
