News You Need: stabbing incident in Noel and Kansas exceeds tax collection expectations

NOEL, Mo. –  Authorities investigate a stabbing incident in Noel Missouri that left a man hospitalized. Noel marshals say they received reports of an assault in the parking lot of Tyson foods on Monday afternoon. When they arrived they found two men with injuries. One with stab wounds was flown to the hospital. His condition is unknown. Authorities arrested the other man. Click here to read more about this story.

KANSAS – Governor Laura Kelly announces the state collected more than 652 million dollars in taxes in August. That’s about 11 million more than the estimate, and 23 million dollars higher than collections during the same period in 2021. Individual income taxes, corporate income taxes, and retail sales taxes were all higher than expected. Governor Kelly says it’s because of strong revenues and fiscal responsibility.

JOPLIN, Mo. – To celebrate the International Day of Charity, KOAM’s Janna Hautala visited Joplin’s Ronald McDonald House to discuss the importance of the worldwide organization. The Joplin location serves people from both Mercy and Freeman hospitals. The organization says they have over 400 houses all over the world, including hospital rooms and mobile homes in different cities.
