Monday blog: A mild week ahead and some storm chances -Chris

Good Monday morning and Happy Halloween! We’ve got perfect trick-or-treating weather for us today and into this evening. After the fog and clouds clear out we’ll be left with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies across the area and highs near 70°.

For your drive home, we’ve got that pleasant looking green light as we’re mostly clear and in the 60s with no strong winds pushing you around today.

For this evening, we dip down to the upper 40s for lows, but ahead of that, if you’ve got some trick-or-treating or other outdoor Halloween plans, we’re decent in the 50s through the evening under partly cloudy skies.

We are watching an increasing chance of showers and thunderstorms as we head into the upcoming weekend. We’re watching the possibility of some strong to severe storms and some heavy rain. While we don’t need the severe weather, we do need the rain as we’re slowly starting to see improvements in the drought tracker.

A look at your 7-day forecast is below.

Weekend Blog: Rain chances and a bigger system down the road. -Doug

I hope you had a great week and of course ready for the weekend.  We had the good rains on Monday and Tuesday and then a few showers on Thursday night.  We do has some rain chances in the forecast for the weekend.  These will be light, but we need more rain.

Mainly just cloudy most of the day on Saturday.  However, we will start to get some showers in here late in the afternoon and into the evening hours.  Most of these will be light and along and south of the I-44 corridor.  Light showers continue into the overnight hours.  Lets look at late evening.

Light showers continue into Sunday morning.

Still mostly cloudy skies on Sunday with a few random showers.  Bottom line, not a ton of sun over the weekend.  However, by Monday, sun returns and Halloween looks great.

70s return for a good chunk of next week.  Also, a much stronger system moves in late Friday and into the weekend.  This should give us widespread heavy rains with showers and thunderstorms.  Some of these storms could pack a bit of a punch.  Long range forecast is below.

Thursday blog: Increasing clouds and some showers on the way -Chris

Good Thursday morning everyone, we’re one step closer to the weekend. We do have another gusty day ahead of us though, but not quite like what we have seen over the last weekend. Gusts today should range from 20-25mph in most cases.

Your drive home should be good, we have mostly cloudy skies and temps in the 50s near 60°. We do have the yellow light on due to the gusty winds which could push around high-profile vehicles.

Heading through today we’re looking at a high right around 64° with mostly cloudy skies persisting throughout the day, along with those gusty southeast winds.

Tonight, we’re cool again with a low around 47°. There may be an overnight shower or two for some of us, most of us will remain dry and any shower activity we see will be quite late, after midnight. Those showers may persist into the early morning hours of Friday before they clear out leaving us with mostly cloudy skies again.

Heading into your pre-Halloween weekend, scattered shower chances return and temps will be in the mid to upper 50s. We’re not looking at a complete washout with rain, so don’t cancel your weekend plans, just keep the umbrella handy if you’re heading to any outdoor events.

We settle into a mild, above average pattern next week.

Wednesday Blog: Rain Chances Increasing Into The Weekend -Dalton

We’re finally starting to dry out from the rain we received over the past few days, however we are looking at additional rain chances into the weekend.

A quick look at our day tomorrow will see temperatures looking pretty good as most of us will be in the mid 60s.

Rain chances try to increase early on Friday with most of the rain wanting to stay south of the area with temperatures down into the upper 40s-low 50s.

As we go into the evening we will climb into the low-mid 60s with rain chances mainly wanting to stay to our south.

By Saturday temperatures will mainly be in the upper 50s with rain lingering around the area.

Rain chances continue into Sunday with temperatures holding steady into the mid 50s.

Halloween looks to be a little chilly as we drop back into the low 50s with clear skies.

Have a great Thursday

More rain today, some dry weather, then additional showers possible later this week -Chris

Good morning everyone, I hope you all are enjoying this nice round of rain we’re getting, something we’ve needed for quite some time.

So far, up through this morning, we’ve seen anywhere from 1-3″ of rain across the area, which is a healthy dose. Not enough to put a significant dent in the drought, but it certainly helps.

You may have noticed, it’s a bit cooler today as well. We’re trending upwards of 30° cooler today than what we saw yesterday morning across the area. That’s all thanks to the cold front that rolled through yesterday with the first batch of showers and thunderstorms.

The drive home as a yellow light as we’ll see the showers and storms start to clear up later this evening, however, we’ll hold onto winds gusting upwards for 40mph through about 7:00 tonight, so do be aware of that.

For today, we’re hitting that 55° early again like yesterday, with temperatures otherwise hovering in the mid to upper 40s through most of the day.

We clear out tonight and get cool, with an overnight low of 40°, however, we also manage to lose those gusty winds.

We’ve got additional rain chances later in the week.

Latest updated blog: Another batch of rain and cooler. -Doug

Finally we got some rain.  We needed it so badly and even though a lot of areas picked up several inches, we could us some more.  So far, most areas have gotten between 1-3″ of rain.

Still another batch of light to moderate rain into Tuesday morning.  The heaviest will be along and south of I-44.

So additional rainfall will be the heaviest on the MO side.

By late afternoon into the evening, we will get a little bit of sunshine.  However, it will be chilly.

Wednesday looks fantastic!  Back into the 60s with sunshine.

Our next system will work in on Friday.  Most of the moisture will stay south of us but I do think we at least have chances to get some light showers.

Weekend Blog: Big storm system arrives on Monday. -Doug

I hope you had a great week and of course looking forward to the weekend.  What a wild week.  Two nights of record lows and now we are pushing record highs.  Finally we have rain chances right back in the forecast as well.  Lets look at the weekend.

We are going to have a lot of clouds and it will be windy, so not the best weekend to burn.  Lets jump into Monday.  By mid to late morning, showers will start to increase.  Then periods of showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening, which we greatly need.

We will get a break Monday night but then a second wave rolls in on Tuesday.

Now, in this years Heady Pattern, the cycle is much shorter than last years 64 days.  That cold snap this week will return a few times this winter with arctic air.  These systems will also return and our pretty good tracks to get some wintry weather form them.  So that excites me for sure.  Most of the rain will be out of here by Tuesday evening.  We need some heavy rains and I think this storm system as of right now, should produce 1-3″ of rain.

Chilly and dry after this system until another system moves in on Friday.  Additional rain chances Friday.

Long range forecast is below.

-Doug

Next Weekend:  Rain could linger into Saturday morning, then a mild and dry weekend with highs in the 60s.

October 30th-November 5th:  A mild week with rain chances on Thursday and Friday.

November 6th-12th:  Cooling down early in the week with showers on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.  Warming back up a bit toward the weekend.

November 13th-19th:  Mainly a mild week with rain chances on Thursday and Friday.

November 20th-26th:  A cold first half of the week with slight rain chances on Monday.  Warming up a bit late in the week with rain chances on Friday and Satureday.

November 27th-December 3rd:  Mainly a cold week with rain or snow chances mid week.

Warm Weekend Ahead

Tonight should be mostly fair and mild with south winds returning along with increasing dew points. Not as cold as the last few nights.

Tomorrow should be warm and mostly sunny with breezy conditions. Increasing clouds towards evening especially western sections of our area.

Tomorrow night will be milder with increasing moisture on south winds.

Sunday should be partly cloudy, windy and warm.

Sunday night into Monday morning will be breezy, mild with higher dewpoints ahead of the next storm system.

As the next storm system pulls out into the Plains on Monday, thunderstorms will develop with some possibly severe with heavy rainfall possible as well. The rain could last into Tuesday morning and if the GFS model is correct, our area could see several inches of rain before ending on Wednesday which would help the drought situation.
