Extreme drought conditions continue, Fire Depts say no burning

JOPLIN METRO AREA — All four states are affected by dry conditions and numerous fire departments have issued burn bans.

According to the National Weather Service  — Springfield the entire region persists dry conditions raising the fire danger higher.

The Joplin Fire Dept state on their daily update on fire conditions, “Burning is not allowed today, nor any other day in the near future, due to drought.”

Redings Mill Fire battled a 50-acre grassfire earlier this week as someone was burning trash that got out of control. Today the Dept states, Saturday, October 8, “Wildland Fire Conditions, today, very high, no burning.”

El Dorado Springs Fire battled a grassfire on Friday sharing an image from above the incident, “The ELDO fire department would like to give a HUGE THANK YOU to Nate at Casey’s for taking care of our ladies auxiliary and also to the ladies auxiliary for getting us food and water on our grass fire today.”

El Dorado Springs, Mo. Fire respond to baler fire

CEDAR COUNTY, Mo. – Monday afternoon temperatures across the region were near 100°.  Heat index made it feel like nearly 110°.  Battling even a small fire requires numerous firefighters crews can switch out to avoid heat exhaustion or related injuries.

Just before 8 p.m. Monday evening, “El Dorado Springs Fire Dept responded to the 15000 of S 3006 Rd. responded to the 15000 of S 3006 Rd. Concerning a reported grass/ hay baler fire,” Eldo Fire state in a release of information.

14 firefighters responded along with five apparatus.

There were no reported injuries.

In an unrelated fire, nearby Walker Mo. Rural Fire Dept responded earlier Monday to a grass fire in their district.  Images were shared on their Facebook page.
