Diamond man win $50,000 Powerball Prize

DIAMOND, Mo. – A Diamond, Missouri man is sitting $50,000 richer after winning a Missouri Lottery prize. Roger Hirshey matched four out of the five white-ball numbers on May 22. The winning numbers were 3, 19, 27, 37 and 40 with a Powerball number of 8.

The winning ticket was purchased at Pump N Pantry, 45 Highway 59, in Diamond. The win marked the 280th time a Missouri Lottery player has won a $50,000 Powerball prize since 2015.

Saturday night’s Powerball jackpot is estimated at $253 million.

Diamond man killed in late night wreck south of Galena

GALENA, Kan. – A Diamond, Missouri man dies in a two vehicle wreck south of Galena, Kansas Thursday night.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, 28-year-old James Wealot’s car crossed the centerline and struck a car driven by 38-year-old April Mathis of Galena just before 11:00 p.m.

Wealot was pronounced dead at the scene. An ambulance transported Mathis to a Joplin hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
