Body located in creek bed, El Dorado Springs Police investigate

EL DORADO SPRINGS, Mo. — Sunday, November 27,  just after 2 p.m. the El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to the 100 block of North Jackson Street, “concerning a deceased person in the nearby creek bed,” EDSPD state in a release of information.

The Cedar County Coroner’s Office is assisting in the investigation. There is no apparent evidence of foul play.” — EDSPD

Next of kin have been notified.

The deceased identified as Tory B. Richards, 30, of El Dorado Springs.

Lamar, Mo. death investigation, crime scene tape wraps a residence on Allen Street

LAMAR, Mo. — Thursday morning just before 3 a.m. officers of the Lamar Police Dept and Barton County Ambulance responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Allen St. regarding woman possibly not breathing.

Chief Joseph Moore tells KOAM’s Shannon Becker EMS began life-saving measures immediately.

The 36-year-old female was rushed to Cox Barton County by BCA, however later was pronounced deceased.

Chief Moore says they have scheduled an autopsy for tomorrow in Springfield.

For now Lamar Police Detectives are gathering evidence and the residence on the east side of town is surrounded in crime scene tape.

The deceased’s name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

Cunningham Park Death Investigation, Joplin Police say man was located near Trolley Stop

JOPLIN, Mo. — About 7:20 a.m. Tuesday morning reports of person down on the sidewalk in the 2400 block of S Maiden Lane.

Capt William Davis of the Joplin Police Dept tells us a passerby noticed a man near the trolley stop and called 911.

On arrival officers located a middle-aged man deceased.

2400 S MAIDEN LANE IS MARKED WITH THE RED MARKER WHERE BODY LOCATED.

Initial investigation does not find it to be suspicious, no signs of obvious trauma, however Jasper County Coroner Randy Nace will investigate as well as JPD. 

Nace arrived shortly after 8 a.m. to claim the body.

Identification has yet to be made. 

The individual was familiar to people who talked to us on the scene. More than one neighbor said he was walking around earlier this morning, before 7 a.m. in the area.

Missing person case becomes a death investigation in Blendville Neighborhood of Joplin

JOPLIN, Mo. — Thursday afternoon Capt William Davis tells us a current missing person investigation brought them to a residence in the Blendville Neighborhood of Joplin, 2201 S Jackson.

He tells us on scene that they have located the missing person inside the residence here, deceased.  No names are being released at this time.

Capt Davis tells us they are actively seeking a person of interest.

Just before 6 p.m. Capt Davis released an official statement to the media:

On March 30th, 2022 the Joplin Police Department received a report of a missing person and
initiated an investigation. On the afternoon of March 31st, 2022, the missing person was located
deceased at a residence at 2201 S. Jackson Avenue in Joplin. Detectives with the Joplin Police
Department are actively conducting a death investigation. At this time, no information regarding
the identity of the victim is being release until next of kin notifications are made. Detectives are
actively looing to speak with a person of interest in the matter. No information on that person is
being released at this time. No comment is being made on the cause of the death.” – JPD

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office will not file charges in death investigation

JOPLIN, Mo. — We’re learning new details about a death investigation in Jasper County.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of Friday’s shooting as 50-year-old Brian Smith.

Authorities say smith was found dead outside his home at 1763 Malang Road in Joplin around noon.

Yesterday authorities detained a 75-year-old male for questioning, and now say no charges will be filed.

An autopsy on Smith is scheduled for Monday.

Jasper County Death Investigation

((Joplin, MO)) On January 7, 2022 at approximately noon, Jasper County Deputies received a call of a
disturbance with an unknown altercation taking place at 1763 South Malang Road in Joplin. When deputies arrived, they found a 50-year-old man dead in the yard from a gunshot wound. Detectives had detained a 75-year-old man for questioning. They are not looking for anyone else involved in this incident at this time and the public is not in danger.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
Updates will be given when it is appropriate to do so.

Police are investigating two deaths in Joplin

JOPLIN, Mo. — The Joplin Police Department is investigating two deaths in the Campbell Parkway neighborhood.

Police responded to a medical call around 5:30p.m. saturday night in the 1300 block of South Massachusetts Avenue.

Authorities found one woman dead inside the home and a man who had life-threatening injuries.

The man was transported to a hospital where he later died.

Officers say next of kin have been notified but they are not releasing the names at this time.

Identity released in Crawford County house fire death investigation

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. – Authorities release the identity of a woman found dead in a Crawford County house fire.

Authorities positively identified the victim as Sara Etzold, 39, of Mulberry, Kansas. A coroner is conducting an autopsy to determine official cause of death and the investigation is ongoing.

On April 4, 2021, around 3:41 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call about a house fire.

Deputies, EMS and Fire responded to the fire at 143 South 250th Street.

While putting out the fire, they found a deceased adult victim in the home.

State Fire Marshal investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.

Police investigate body found in Joplin house fire

JOPLIN, Mo. – Police conduct a death investigation following a fire in northeast Joplin.

Yesterday evening the Joplin Fire Department responded to a house fire at 223 South Galena Avenue. Firefighters found a man already dead inside.

Joplin Police Department is investigating. There’s no word yet on whether investigators suspect foul play.

Police say they’ll release the victim’s name once they track down the next of kin.
