70s Tuesday and Wednesday, 40s next weekend

A warming trend will continue Monday, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid-60s expected.

Record highs will be possible for Tuesday and especially Wednesday. For Tuesday, Joplin’s record high is 71, set in 2008 and for Wednesday, Joplin’s record high is 74, set in 1984.

There will be a small chance of a shower Wednesday afternoon, but most locations will remain dry until Wednesday night, when we’ll have a chance of showers and thunderstorms ahead of a cold front.

Highs will cool down to the mid to upper-50s for Thursday and Friday.

A second cold front will push through and bring another chance of showers and storms from Friday afternoon into Friday night.

Behind this front, look for partly cloudy skies and highs in the low to mid-40s next weekend.

The 8-14 Day Outlook from the Climate Prediction Center (December 20-26) calls for above average temperatures, so it appear we’re in store for a relatively mild Christmas.

Have a great week!

Warming trend through Wednesday; Windy conditions ahead of rain chances

Temperatures will warm into the middle 60s today with sunny skies and wind gusts up to 25 MPH, but today will mostly be calm. Winds take off through Wednesday, potentially gusting up to 40 MPH by the middle of the week, and allowing temperatures to warm into the 70s. A cold front will provide rain with potentially some storms Wednesday night into Thursday morning, that will cool temperatures into the 50s through Friday. This front could also provide more rain chances through Friday before cooling us into the 40s by the weekend. This forecast could change, so keep updated with the latest forecasts through the week.

Warm and breezy today with a slight rain chance; Cooler tomorrow

Friday in the Four States will be another warm and breezy one, but we’ll see mostly cloudy skies and a slight chance of rain between 10am-2pm today. Most will stay dry, and those that see this light rain will just see a trace of rainfall. This is ahead of a cold front that will ignite severe weather to our east tonight, but it will just decrease cloud cover and temperatures for the Four States. Tomorrow will see more average December temperatures with abundant sunshine this weekend. Sunday will kick off another warming trend into the middle of next week. We’re also watching another rain chance late Wednesday into Thursday as another cold front should cool us into the end of next week.

Warm and breezy through Friday; Slight rain chance tomorrow

Temperatures will soar into the upper 60s this afternoon as southerly winds gust up to 30 MPH at times today. We’ll be calm, but warm overnight before we warm into the lower 70s tomorrow ahead of a cold front that could bring some of us light rain showers during the midday and afternoon hours of Friday. Most should stay dry as the majority of the rain showers and even some thunderstorms should remain to our east. We’ll cool to near average temperatures on Saturday before another warming trend leads us into next week.

Warmer today; Rollercoaster of temperatures ahead

Wednesday has a cooler start to it, but we’ll warm above average today with highs in the middle to upper 50s and mostly sunny skies. Overnight, winds will pick up and gust up to 30 MPH through Friday ahead of a cold front. This will bring partly cloudy conditions and much warmer temperatures, including close to another record high temperature on Friday. Friday’s cold front won’t be associated with much rain, but a stray shower or two cannot be ruled out over the Four States. The bulk of the rain, however, should stay to our east. This will cool us to seasonal conditions on Saturday before we warm above average yet again into next week.

Mostly cloudy and cool today; Much warmer by the end of the week

Temperatures should warm to near average today with mostly cloudy skies. We should be in the 40s with a slight wind chill for the Joplin Christmas Parade tonight, so bundle up! The sun will make many appearances through Thursday as temperatures gradually rise into the middle 70s by Friday, potentially breaking another record high for December. A cold front will cool us down into the weekend, but rain is looking to stay primarily to our east during this event. We should warm above average again by the start of next week.

Severe weather potential ending, colder Monday

10:58 PM: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 4 AM for Barry, Benton, and McDonald counties. A Wind Advisory is in effect until 3 AM for all of northeast Oklahoma. Wind gusts to 45 mph will be possible in and out of thunderstorms through early Monday morning.

Any rain is expected to end by midnight, with breezy conditions persisting into Monday. While we will see a return to sunshine Monday, highs will only reach the mid-40s.

A brief shower will be possible early Tuesday night before we start to warm things up again.

We’ll reach the mid-50s Wednesday, then climb to the mid to upper-60s for Thursday and Friday.

As a cold front approaches the area, a shower or two will be possible from Friday into Saturday morning, but not everyone will see rain.

We cool back to the low to mid-50s for next weekend.

Have a great Monday!

Much cooler today; Another warm up by the end of the week

After last night’s cold front, we’ll see mostly sunny skies and temperatures only warming into the middle 40s this afternoon. This morning is a little breezy, but winds will calm overnight as clouds increase and temperatures drop into the upper 20s. Rain should primarily dodge us to the east late tomorrow, as temperatures warm into the end of the week. By Friday, we should be in the lower 70s with a slight rain chance that will cool us into the upper 40s again this weekend.

Isolated showers tonight, next week starts much cooler

A few isolated rain showers are possible tonight ahead of a warm front, though not everyone will see rain. A rumble of thunder is also not out of the question as we head toward Sunday morning. Expect clouds to decrease throughout the day Sunday.

A cold front will bring another chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm Sunday night, before mostly sunny conditions return Monday.

It will be much cooler to start the week, with highs only in the mid to upper-40s from Monday through Wednesday. There will be another small chance of a shower Tuesday afternoon, but most locations should stay dry.

We’ll start to moderate the temperatures again late in the week, reaching the mid-60s Friday, before cooling back to the low to mid-50s again Saturday.

There will be another opportunity for a light shower both Friday and Saturday afternoons, but precipitation chances are only about 20 percent.

Have a great Sunday!

Very warm Friday; Slightly cooler and mostly dry this weekend

Yesterday broke records for warmest temperatures on December 2nd in the Four States, and today could do the same with highs in the 70s expected again. We’ll see clouds increase today as winds shift overnight out of the north, allowing for slightly cooler conditions this weekend. We are also watching a very small chance for rain Saturday night into Sunday morning, but the majority of the rain will stay well to our southeast. Temperatures will be in the 60s this weekend before dropping into the middle 40s by Monday with the passing of a cold front. Temperatures should be near normal through the middle of next week, where we could see a few more rain chances. We’ll keep you updated!
