Firefighters quick work save main house from burning

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — About 9:30 p.m. Saturday night, December 10, 2022, reports of a structure fire at 410 W Walnut alerted Carl Junction E-911.

Carl Junction Fire, METS ambulance and Carl Junction Police responded.

First report on scene state the garage was fully involved and there were booms coming from the structure.

Walnut was closed to all traffic as hoses ran across the roadway.

No one was injured in the fire, or fighting the fire

Neighbors tell us there were loud booms heard as the garage was burning. Source is unknown. There was a vehicle consumed by the fire. Many times tires deflating create a boom effect.  Also propane tanks on BBQ grills can be a culprit.

CJ Fire worked quickly to control the fire from spreading to the main residence, just feet away. The heat of the flames melted siding from the east side of the home.

CJ Police investigators arrived shortly after 10:15 p.m.

Chief Joe Perkins of Carl Junction Fire requested assistance from the State Fire Marshals office. On scene investigation continued until about 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

Car travels off road and overturns near Carl Junction

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. – Just after 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2022, reports of a single vehicle rollover crash near Carl Junction at Joplin St and Gray Fox Lane alerted Jasper County E-911.

Carl Junction Fire Dept, METS ambulance, Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies and Carl Junction Police responded. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified.

On scene we learn a 2008 Kia Spectra was traveling north on Joplin Street, lost control going off the right side of the road and overturning.

The female driver was the sole occupant.  Nicole Dunnington, 39, of Carl Junction, Mo. suffered moderate injuries.

Crash occurred as [KIA] travelled off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned.” – Cpl J.L. Prewitt of Troop D

Dunnington was arrested, cited for DWI and released to seek medical treatment.

Cardinal Towing removed the vehicle and debris from the crash scene.

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Have you seen this missing teen?  Authorities believe she is still in the Joplin area.

Abigayle Phae Marie Scaletta, 16, was last seen at her residence in Carl Junction, Mo. on Friday, August 19.

Abigayle may still be in the local area or she may travel to Neosho, Mo. or Joplin, Mo. When she was last seen her hair was sandy blonde with blonde highlights. Abigayle may go by the name Abby.” – Carl Junction Police Dept

Van overturns, two vehicle crash in Carl Junction, Mo.

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Just before noon Wednesday reports of a two vehicle crash alerted authorities to Z and State Route JJ,  just west of Carl Junction High School.

Carl Junction Fire, Carl Junction Police, Jasper County Deputies responded. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified.

We learn on scene a van on its side and a passenger vehicle, both with extensive damage.

Troopers tell us the passenger car was traveling west and the van, pulling a trailer, was traveling south. The crash occurred just feet outside the city limits.

Initially all occupants and drivers refused medical transport.  We learn later that one person stated they will seek medical treatment and travel by private vehicle.

H&H Wrecker will remove the vehicles and debris from the crash scene.

Have you seen this runaway teen?

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — The CJPD release details regarding a runaway teen.

“We are asking for help in locating a missing juvenile who left home Monday afternoon and has not returned. Foul play is not suspected,” they state in a release of information.

Seeking to locate Nevaeh S Walls, white female, 14 years old.
