Car crashes into garage in Blendville Neighborhood, then travels out the other side

JOPLIN, Mo. — Just before 4:45 p.m. Saturday reports of a vehicle crash into a garage in the 2300 block of South Empire alerted Joplin E911.

Joplin Fire Dept, Joplin Police, and METS ambulance responded.

On the scene Cpl Tim Hudson of the Joplin Police Dept tells us a vehicle traveling south along the west alley struck a shed and utility pole. The car continued driving into a garage, crashing into a parked vehicle. Then both vehicles traveled through the exterior wall of the garage.

One male was transported to an area hospital. Injuries are unknown, but not thought to be life-threatening.

Cpl Hudson said the crash is under investigation.

Joplin Fire battle house fire in Blendville Neighborhood, frigid temperatures

JOPLIN, Mo. – Just before 5 p.m. Joplin Dispatch were alerted to reports of a house fire at 1702 S Annie Baxter.  Neighbors reported the fire was on the front porch.

Joplin Fire, Joplin Police and METS ambulance responded.

Joplin Fire sounded a 2nd alarm after officers on the scene reported flames and smoke were visible.

We are told on scene everyone was out of the residence safely.

Battling the fire is no easy task since temps were at 14°, 15-20 mph winds makes the wind chill make it feel like zero.

We will update with more information as it becomes available from fire officials.
