Schifferdecker Aquatic Center Closed Friday – Sunday for Swim Meet

Schifferdecker Aquatic Center will be closed to the public Friday, July 14th through Sunday, July 16th for the Berserkers 4-State Splash Swim Meet. Patrons are encouraged to go to either Cunningham or Ewert Aquatic Centers. Family swim night, normally held on Friday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm at Schifferdecker Aquatic Center is also cancelled for July 14th. Investigation Underway Into Convenient Store Break Ins

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating three recent commercial burglaries. On Monday, July 3rd, 2017, a suspect broke into the Scammon X-Press convenient store in the early morning hours and stole cigarettes. Theft From Vehicle Suspects Arrested

On July 8, 2017 at 3:36am officers responded to the area of 4506 West 28th. The caller found two juveniles going through his vehicle and they ran away when confronted. This address is in the Cedar Ridge Neighborhood, an area that has seen repeated thefts from vehicles. Responding officers found two juveniles, and one ran on foot. Armed Robbery Arrests Made in Joplin

On July 7, 2017 at 7:10 PM Officers with the Joplin Police Department responded to 2623 West 7th, Wal-Mart, for an armed robbery. A female employee was working inside the store at the service desk. She was approached by a customer attempting to purchase flowers. The customer then placed a gun on the counter from his pocket and told the clerk to give him all of the money in the register.
