Mt. Olive Cemetery clean up in Pittsburg

Pittsburg, KS – City of Pittsburg Parks & Recreation Department is advising residents that parks staff will begin picking up flowers at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Thursday, June 28. All flowers not contained in permanent vases will be cleared from the cemetery. This process is done each year, following the Memorial Day holiday, in order to keep the property in good condition.

Drive-By Shooting Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

17-year-old Jacob Davis made his first court appearance via video today (June 21, 2018). On June 14th, 2018, Davis reportedly shot multiple times in the direction of five people near 407 N. Pearl Avenue in Joplin. Three of those people knew Davis and identified him as the shooter. Police arrested Davis on June 18th. A Check on the Drought Monitor – June 21st

The Drought Monitor was updated this morning and we have seen some changes across the Four State region. Let’s also keep in mind that the cutoff date for the data to create these maps was Tuesday June 19th. Severe Weather Outlook for June 22nd & 23rd

Our system hasn’t completely cleared the area. With that and another upper level disturbance wanting to work in, we’ll have to keep an eye on t-storm chances for Friday and Saturday. For Friday, parts of the area are under a marginal threat for severe weather. That will be due to a complex of t-storms that will develop out in western Kansas and Oklahoma Friday evening.
