A Webb City woman was sentenced Tuesday to 18 months in federal prison for embezzling nearly $115,000 from her Joplin employer. Roxanna Sue Rindom, 47, also was ordered to pay restitution of $114,814 by U.S. District Judge Beth Phillips in Springfield.

A special prosecutor has dropped misdemeanor charges against a Joplin father and son arising from a dispute with police and paramedics after a family member’s suicide. James Nichols, a special prosecutor from Lamar, had the charges against Kevin Russell, 44, and Brant Russell, 22, dismissed last week in Joplin Municipal Court.

Six-month-old Mitchell Farris was found safe and healthy Sunday night in Miami, Fla., said Anderson police Chief Donavon Pierson. The Amber Alert issued for the child was canceled about 7 p.m. Sunday.
