The city of Joplin spent more than $8,000 in an effort to keep secret parts of a report by a private investigator that led to the firing of Mark Rohr as city manager. Legal fees paid by the city in a lawsuit filed by the Globe to obtain the withheld information totaled $8,083.60, according to a city response to an open records request by the Globe.

Two school districts will not pursue the possibility of redrawn boundaries and a transfer of ownership of the McCune Attendance Center, their superintendents say. School board presidents and superintendents from both districts spoke last week after a group of patrons from the Southeast School District approached the Oswego School Board about saving the school from closure.
