The Joplin City WIC Office has announced that a contract to continue to provide WIC services for federal fiscal year 2014 (October 1, 2013 thru September 30, 2014) has been signed with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

Mercy to consider science center
A proposal for a science/discovery center with a weather component will be considered for part of the former St. John’s Regional Medical Center site. David Wallace, chief executive officer of the Wallace Bajjali Development Partners, said that type of project will be considered for land that the board of Mercy Hospital wants to develop near 26th Street and McClelland Boulevard.

‘Ozark Uplift’ documentary on sale at area museums
The Newton County Tourism Council has dug up what could be a stocking stuffer just in time for the holidays. “Ozark Uplift,” a documentary about lead, zinc and coal mining in the Tri-State Area of Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma is going on sale at several area museums and other sites beginning today.
