Pauline Bradbury, a lifelong resident, of North Miami, OK. Passed away on November 28th, 2022 at Miami Integris Hospital, after a brief illness. Pauline would have celebrated her 100th birthday on February 22nd, 2023.
Pauline was the youngest child of her family, and all of them preceded her in death. Her father was Artie Otto Stevens, and her mother was Nannie Lee “Houseman” Stevens. Her older brothers Earl Stevens, Leroy Stevens, and Bob Stevens, and one older sister Nina “Stevens” Lane. Pauline was born in a home in North Miami, OK. on February 22nd, 1923. She lived in North Miami her whole life, until having to live in Windridge Nursing Facility, Miami, OK. the last 9 months.
Pauline began her school career in North Miami and graduated high school in Commerce with the class of 1940. Shortly after graduation she began working at Gilstrap’s Grocery in North Miami, which also included the U.S. Post Office. She became a U.S. Postal Worker at that time, and continued working in that position for 39 years, and eventually went into retirement.
While working at the post office, Pauline met the love of her life, Ray Bradbury. Pauline and Ray were married on Christmas Eve, 1953. Even though they never had children of their own, they treated their nieces and nephew like theirs and lived a very happy and loving life for 33 years until Ray preceded her in death.
Pauline is survived by her nieces, Hudy Taylor of Lubbock, TX., Wanda Turner and husband Harley of Miami, Lois Pond of Gillette, WY., one nephew Robert Wayne Stevens and wife Becky of Tulsa. Pauline is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. She also leaves a remnant of many loving friends, most of her closest she has managed to outlive.
She was witty, funny, and friendly, and could tell you many stories about the depression. She loved her family dearly. The ends and outs with the hospital. The staff loved her, the ends and out with nursing home the staff loved her. She was easy to love. She was an avid reader until her eyesight left her.
Pauline was an avid believer in God and his son, Jesus. Her favorite scripture was Acts 2:38 (repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the holy spirit.) Pauline was a member of the Church of Christ, in Miami.
Burial services are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
Services will be at the funeral home on Monday, December 5th, 2022. Family and friends visitation will begin at 1:00 pm with services starting at 2:00 pm.
Minister Pat Andrews (a family member) will deliver the message, with Minister Zane Copeland covering the obituary. Pall Bearers will be, Willie Ng, Kasey Ng, Kyler Ng, Randall Howard, Tim Barker, and Arthur Anderson. David Davis will lead congregational singing.
