John W. Partin, II, 81, of St. Louis, Missouri, formerly of Pittsburg, passed away suddenly Monday, November 28, 2022.
He was born May 1, 1941 at Pittsburg, Kansas, the son of John W., I & Anne (Fox) Partin. He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1959 and later received his Bachelor’s degree.
Mr. Partin joined the U.S. Navy, where he served for 24 years, attaining the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. His service included tours, during the Cuban Blockade, Vietnam, the Iranian Hostage crisis, and even rescuing Vietnamese in the middle of the ocean.
Membership was held in the Benjamin Fuller American Legion Post No. 64, where he had been a member for over 50 years and the 59er’s Club in Pittsburg.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Linda Turnquist; his daughter, Kristina (Charlie) Immekus; three grandchildren, Kayla Duffy, Charley (Josh) Hedges, and Shaneesa Immekus and his ex-wife, Mary Partin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Connie (Joe) Trebbe, Jo (“Swany”) Swigart, and “Mike” Ridge.
A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022 Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary in St. Louis, Missouri. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Mark Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. These may be left or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
