Doris Allene Tilton

Doris Allene (DeLisle) Tilton went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 27, 2022, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. Doris was born January 16, 1933, to William DeLisle and Ida Marie (Haslip) DeLisle near Ozark, Missouri. She was one of nine children. Doris grew up on the family farm, went to school in Ozark, until she married Charles William Tilton on May 4, 1949. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. Doris was a faithful Christian wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mild mannered, outstanding cook, wonderful housekeeper, and loved by all who knew her.

Doris worked outside the home all her life. On the family farm, Woolworth’s in St. Louis, Katz Drug Company in Joplin, and Hertz at the Joplin Airport before retiring to her home near Diamond, Missouri.

Doris is survived by her sister, Donna Barnett and her husband, Richard; brother, Jim DeLisle; daughter, Charlotte Sue George and her husband, Scott; two grandchildren, Dr. Cheryl Williams and her husband, Bob and Brian George and his wife, Shelly; five great-grandchildren, Robert Williams and his wife, Sara, Christina Williams, Bethany Williams, Christopher George and Sam George and a host of nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida; her husband Charles Tilton; her brothers, Bill DeLisle and Bob DeLisle and her sisters, Nadine Delisle, Eileen Stockton, Ruth Cole, and Linda Rothermel.

A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2022, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri.

Memorial donation in memory of Doris, may be made payable to the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ, or your favorite charity, in care of the funeral home.
