Ruby Mae McClellan

Ruby Mae McClellan, 94, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Sunday morning, November 20, 2022, at Mercy Hospital, Carthage, Missouri. Ruby was born February 1, 1928, in Chamois, Missouri, the daughter of the late Ted McKnight and Ioda “Odie” (Thompson) McKnight. She was a 1946 graduate of Chamois High School. Ruby married the love of her life, James Leonard McClellan on May 8, 1948, in Chamois, Missouri; he preceded her in death on October 8, 2020. She worked as a seamstress for Beck Casket in Carthage. Ruby was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage. Ruby was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1973, and after a hard-fought battle, she was able to beat cancer. Ruby was always thinking about others and worked with the American Cancer Society where she would help those who had been recently diagnosed with cancer. She loved the time she spent fishing with her husband, Jim, and loved spending time with her family, but most of all, her beloved grandkids.

Survivors include three sons, Ron McClellan (Beverly), Edgerton, Missouri, Ted McClellan, Kansas City, Missouri, and Jim McClellan (Karen), Carthage; five grandchildren, Ross McClellan (Carrie), Lizzi Wilkinson (Jerid), Deric McClellan (Wynoka), Cassie McClellan, and Molly Chang (Ron); twelve great-grandchildren, Cody, Darren, Derek, Dylan, and Elaina McClellan, Jonathan, Kaitlyn, Wyatt, Anthony, and Eli Wilkinson, and Maya and Naomi Chang; one great-great-grandchild, Damien McClellan; and many other extended family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Von and Ward McKnight.

Funeral services will be held 10 am, Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. The burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage.
