Jesus called our beloved mother and grandmother Doris York 85, of Parsons, Kansas to her eternal home on Sunday November 20th, 2022.
She is reunited in heaven with her husband Allen York, sister Patricia Studebaker, parents Eva and Charles Reed, her lifelong friend Agnes Jones and many others she has missed.
She leaves behind a daughter Sandy York-Hill, a son David York wife Dana, her grandchildren, Danielle, Darci, Derek York; her brother, George Reed and two sisters, Ruby Black and Waydella Hart.
She grew up in rural Dennis and graduated from Labette County Community High School and later attended Parsons Junior College. Doris worked at Garfield School as a classroom and Lunch room aide from 1976 until retirement as well as Parsons Recreation Commission Director and Co-Instructor of Tiny Tots Preschool Program from 1977 until retirement. She also worked as Activity Director at Belmont Towers. She loved her job working around kids and kept gifts they would give her throughout those years. When downsizing her kitchen cabinets, she had over 80 coffee mugs and she could tell you every name of the child that had given it to her so there was no downsizing but boxing some of them up and in storage, but she would not see parting with them. She would also keep colored pictures, crafts, newspaper articles of her children, grandchildren as well as homemade cards made by her husband because all those things held a special place in her heart. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and playing cards and bingo with her friends. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Parsons.
