News To Know: pedestrian struck by vehicles, structure fire

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Pittsburg police search for a shooting suspect. The shooting took place in the area of Pittsburg’s Sonic drive-in on the 100 block of West 23rd. Police found a 32-year-old man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to an extremity. He was listed in stable condition at last report. Click here to read more about this story.

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. – At about 1:40 p.m. Friday reports along Fir Road in Carl Junction of a residential structure fire alerted Carl Junction Fire Department. Almost before Carl Junction Fire arrived mutual aid was requested of Joplin Fire and Webb City Fire. The large duplex is located on Southgate Circle which runs parallel to Fir Road on the southern edge of the Briarbrook Neighborhood. To read more about this story, click here.

JOPLIN, Mo. — About 5:30 p.m. reports of a pedestrian struck on South Range Line and 7th alerted Joplin E-911 Dispatch. Authorities say an adult male was struck in the southbound lanes of Range Line, just south of 7th. The male, who was not in the crosswalk, was struck by one car throwing him into the air and then the second vehicle ran over him. His condition is still unknown. NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. – A federal grand jury indicts a Galena, Kansas man for a crime in southwest Missouri. Authorities arrested Douglas Eugene Alexius, 47, for being a felon in possession of a firearm. They took him into custody after a high-speed motorcycle chase from Kansas across the state line to Newton County, Missouri. The jury returned the federal indictment on November 16 in Springfield, Missouri. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the Court charged Alexius as an armed career criminal due to his prior felony convictions. To read more about this indictment, click here.
