Pittsburg Police search for hit-and-run suspect

PITTSBURG, Kan. — A woman is in serious condition after a hit-and-run in Pittsburg.

Authorities say an SUV hit 43-year-old Melanie Ishimura on the 1400 block of E 20th St. just before Noon Friday.

They say the SUV immediately left the scene.

Police describe it as a pewter-colored SUV and say it was traveling West.

It appears to be an early 2000s Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon and might have damage in the front passenger side area.

Fort Scott Community College unveils Bailey Hall renovations

FORT SCOTT, Kan. — Fort Scott Community College unveiled the new look for the oldest building on campus.

Renovation is complete on Bailey Hall, a building that’s partially the student union and partially the student success center.

The $1.6 renovation includes new windows and an auditorium make-over.

The building opened for tours to show-off the new look.

The school received funding for the renovation in 2019.

Weekend Blog: Rain chances and a bigger system down the road. -Doug

I hope you had a great week and of course ready for the weekend.  We had the good rains on Monday and Tuesday and then a few showers on Thursday night.  We do has some rain chances in the forecast for the weekend.  These will be light, but we need more rain.

Mainly just cloudy most of the day on Saturday.  However, we will start to get some showers in here late in the afternoon and into the evening hours.  Most of these will be light and along and south of the I-44 corridor.  Light showers continue into the overnight hours.  Lets look at late evening.

Still mostly cloudy skies on Sunday with a few random showers.  Bottom line, not a ton of sun over the weekend.  However, by Monday, sun returns and Halloween looks great.

70s return for a good chunk of next week.  Also, a much stronger system moves in late Friday and into the weekend.  This should give us widespread heavy rains with showers and thunderstorms.  Some of these storms could pack a bit of a punch.  Long range forecast is below.

Next Weekend:  Periods of showers and thunderstorms.

November 6th-12th:  A mild start with rain chances back in on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Rain chances again toward the weekend and cooling down.

November 13th-19th: Mainly a mild week with rain chances on Thursday and Friday.

November 20th-26th: Turning colder with a chilly week.  Rain chances on Monday, then again Thursday through Saturday.  We could end with a little snow.

November 27th- December 3rd:  A cold start to the week with a mid week warm up.  Rain chances for the middle of the week and cooling back down toward the weekend.

December 4th-10th:  The first half of the week should be mild with colder temperatures late in the week into the weekend.  Rain or possibly snow chances on Thursday and Friday.
