PITTSBURG Kan. – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We talked with the Safehouse Crisis Center in Pittsburg to hear what they have to offer, as well as the events they are doing this month to spread awareness.
According to the Safehouse Crisis Center, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience domestic violence in their lifetime, whether it is mental, physical, verbal, or sexual.
Safehouse provides free advocates for men or women who are in need of someone to talk to as well as a 24-hour hotline and text line.
The Safehouse is partnered with Pitt State to help any students or staff on campus who may need their services.
