Ben Oliver Stout

Ben Oliver Stout 84, of Columbus, KS lost his battle with cancer 12:54 pm Monday, October 10, 2022, at his home in Columbus, Kansas. He was born on February 9, 1938, in Parsons, KS., the son of Ernest B. Stout and Ruth Naoma Kepner. On November 15, 1964, Ben married Edith “Marie” Carter in Mesquite, TX. She preceded him in death September 9, 2014.
Ben retired from the Cherokee County Road & Bridge Department as a Bridge Foreman after 18 years of loyal dedication. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus, KS, the Cherokee Nation and Delaware Tribes of Oklahoma and retired Master Mason of the James Ladd Burgess Lodge #1305 of Mesquite, TX.
Ben enjoyed his coffee, hunting with his brother Jess, fishing, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughters; Mildred “Diane” Stout, of the home and Sonya Stout (James) Maynard of Neosho, MO; grandchildren Brandon Gravitt of Wichita, KS, Keyvin Gravitt of Neosho, MO, Jonathan (Stephne) Maynard of Carl Junction, MO, and Kay Wheeler (Maynard) of Carthage, MO; 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Viewing will be held Monday October 17, 2022, at the Bath Naylor Funeral home in Columbus, KS from 12pm – 1pm. A Tribal Burial will follow at 2pm, at the Lone Elm Cemetery in Rural Cherokee County. Memorials may be left to the family for final expenses; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, checks should be made payable to Sonya Maynard and/or Mildred “Diane” Stout.
