Jackie Sue McLaughlin

Jackie Sue McLaughlin (born December 21st, 1967) passed away suddenly on October 5th, 2022. Jackie had a love for life that was present in everything she did. She loved cooking, telling stories, and doting on her three grandchildren. Her last moments with her Granddaughter Ember, were spent telling stories to her. Ember hung on to every word that she said, like many others that crossed paths with Jackie.

Jackie is survived by a loving husband Brian, her son Trevor and his wife Kathryn, and three grandchildren Ember Jade, Ezra Cole, and Knox Lane. She is also survived by 2 sisters and 3 brothers; Rebecca Tuggle, Diana Smith, Rick Hubbard, Rocky Hubbard, and Joe Smith.

She was preceded in death by her mom Neoma Anne Curl, her dad Joe Garner Smith, three sisters; Dorothy Raynor, Genie Burns, Leanna Jo Smith, and her brother George Hubbard.

Jackie loved to work. Even on her final day, she still worked a shift at Casey’s in Columbus. Jackie had many jobs throughout her life, but a majority of her working career was spent in the convenient store industry. She held every position from cashier to store owner, and no job was too big or too small for her. She had a passion for work that every coworker and customer could see. Many lives were touched daily at the stores that she worked at. Her biggest joy was the interactions with her customers.

In October, 2003, Jackie gave her life to Jesus Christ. She was loved by her church family, and will be missed dearly. She would leave you with these three verses; Psalm 27: 1, 4, & 8.

A memorial will be held October 29th, at 3:00 at Camp Joy Church in Columbus Kansas. There will be a dinner to follow. A smaller memorial will be held at a later date for close family and friends.
