Elizabeth W. “Betty” Heistand, 92 of Columbus, KS died Monday October 10, 2022 at her home.
She was born November 16, 1929 in rural Columbus the daughter of Thomas and Winnie Agnes (Smith) Morris.
On June 8, 1947 she was united in marriage to Fred Christian Heistand in Columbus, KS; he preceded her in death on July 26, 2009.
Betty worked as a factory worker, then as a nurse’s aide; she then worked for the Parsons Army Ammunition Plant for many years.
Survivors include three daughters: Barbara George of Battlefield, MO Mary Martin and Ruth Delmont both of Columbus, KS and a son Fred R. Heistand also of Columbus; eight grandchildren Gabby George, Michelle Robinson, Christy Oplotnik, Bobby Martin, Julie Pace, Jennifer Niederklein, Fred J. Heistand and Jon Heistand; 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and two sister-in-laws Shirley Whitely and Marilyn Morris.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, siblings Bill Morris, Jack Morris, Jim Morris, Joan Webber and John Morris.
Graveside services will be 11am Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the Park Cemetery in Columbus. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10am until the procession leaves for the cemetery.
