BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. – The National Faith and Blue Weekend continued with more events this evening with a community BBQ.
The national movement began after several high-profile incidents led to further division between community members and the police.
Through collaboration between law enforcement professionals and leaders from local Houses of Worship, Faith and Blue organizers strive to strengthen community partnerships, enhance communication and promote understanding.
“Communities become strong and like ours, they remain strong through mutual respect and trust between law enforcement and those we are honored to serve. By partnering with local faith-based leaders we can continue to bring the community together, bridge gaps, and work together to solve issues that may be impacting our neighbors,” stated Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves.”
The event featured food, family games, and fellowship among residents.
