Janet M. (McCrary) Hinman

Janet M. (McCrary) Hinman, 80, of Parsons, died at 5:32 P.M., Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at her home. Her death was unexpected.

She was born March 7, 1942 at Oswego, a daughter of Philip Paul and Maxine (Hartwell) McCrary. She grew up at Altamont and graduated from the Labette County Community High School.

On January 20, 1971 she and Robert E. Hinman were united in marriage in Miami, OK.

She lived most of her married life in Parsons and was employed at the Labette County Medical Center, the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant and the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center. She retired in 2004.

She attended the Cowboy Church at Altamont. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her daughter and grandchildren. She also enjoyed sports, especially little league baseball and football.

Survivors include: one daughter – Melody (Billman) Ramirez, Parsons; one granddaughter – Jessica N. Ramirez, St. Paul. She was preceded in death by her husband on August 16, 1977; an infant son – Philip E. Hinman; and one grandson – Justin William Ramirez.

Graveside services will be held at the patio at Memorial Lawn Cemetery at a later date with Pastor Les Green officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Justin William Ramirez Endowed Scholarship at Labette Community College. Checks should be made payable to the L.C.C.
