W. Guyan Davis, 76, of rural Galesburg, passed away at 8:45 a.m., Sunday, October 2, 2022, at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
She was born on November 16, 1945, at Parsons to Guy and Winifred Maxine (McCormick) McKay. She grew up in Parsons and attended Parsons schools graduating from Parsons High School in 1963.
Guyan worked at her father’s meat market, M and O Meat Market, and then at the Broderick Co. in Parsons. She then started her career at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center in 1973 as a technician and later she worked as a switchboard operator. She retired in 2011 after 38 years of service.
Guyan enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, crocheting, quilting, and volunteering at her church and the Orange Swan. She was an active and faithful member of the Galesburg Christian Church.
She and Larry Kernell were married on May 8, 1964. They later divorced. She and John Davis were married on January 29, 1972, at Miami, Oklahoma. He survives of the home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Montee Kernell, and his wife, Norine of rural Galesburg and Calvin Kernell, and his companion, Nancy of Parsons; her step-son, Allen Davis, and his companion, Frances of Branson, MO; her step-daughters, Gina Madore, and her husband, Lou of Parsons and Tamra Klein of Branson, MO; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Martha Parsons of McCune and Candy Long of Parsons; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Powers.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 7, 2022, in the Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Ryan Van Peursem officiating. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home from 7 to 8 Thursday evening.
